Harpeth Hall is seeking a Facilities Manager to provide leadership and supervision of the work of operating, maintaining and assuring the safety of the campus. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and initiative and will work to assure that the Facilities department goals are appropriate to support the mission of the School. The Facilities Manager and the Facilities team will support a wide-range of administrative, programmatic and sustainability initiatives and the Facilities Manager will instill an unparalleled customer service attitude among all Facilities staff.
Plans, coordinates and directs the work of the Facilities department, including the maintenance, grounds, and security staff
Develops and manages department budgets
Assures that all properties are well maintained and coordinate necessary repairs and maintenance of facility, vehicles and equipment
Develops, monitors and updates preventative maintenance schedules, to include HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems as well as painting schedule, carpet replacement, etc.
Bids all maintenance contracts, including annual contracts for cleaning; oversees the work of those contracts and interacts to assure completion of work; assures that all vendors’ insurance and licenses are current
Maintains equipment inventory, assuring that appropriate equipment is available and that equipment is well maintained
Coordinates and documents compliance with federal, state and local regulations – to include building codes, OSHA, EPA regulations and fire codes
Conducts regular inspections of Life Safety systems, including fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems
Works with Director of Finance and Operations and Security Officer to set emergency procedures
Lead and coordinate the work of the Core Crisis Team in planning for and executing during emergencies
Responsible for plant safety and security; routinely inspects building and grounds for safety hazards; maintains security systems
Responds appropriately to building emergencies
Works to assure energy efficiency of facility
Assures that all maintenance personnel have appropriate training; conducts regular department meetings and performs annual performance reviews and makes recommendations for wage adjustments and/or, personnel actions.
Keeps Director of Finance and Operations well informed of maintenance, grounds and security issues
Works closely with Division Directors and Director of Finance and Operations to schedule and manage fire drills, tornado drills and lockdown drills
Assists in managing and supporting School events as requested

The successful candidate for this position will have:
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
A minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience in facilities management
Excellent organization, interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills and the ability to effectively organize and direct personnel during a crisis or emergency situations
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with building mechanical systems including: electrical, plumbing, HVAC
A comprehensive knowledge of workplace safety standards and building codes
Demonstrated ability to learn new programmable systems
Completion of formal certification in facilities management a plus
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings and weekends
