Munoz & Company is looking for an experienced Specification Writer who can facilitate the successful delivery of exciting and meaningful design by our project teams. The capacity and continual thirst for knowledge and research should enlighten the candidate to help us achieve the functional and aesthetic creativity and to which we aspire. The position will entail coordinating, developing and managing the delivery of project manuals and specifications, providing quality control support for our professional staff, coordinating with consultants, providing research and evaluation of materials and products, maintaining and updating the currency of office specifications, facilitating internal learning, and maintaining up to date technical resources in-house. You will work with an administrative assistant for specification production support, collaborate with the individual project teams, and with the principal-in-charge of technical resources.

Candidates should have
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Building Construction from an accredited school, or 10 years experience in the Design & Construction Industry
A minimum 3 years of experience as a specification writer, or 5 years of experience of writing specifications as a project manager, or
Minimum 7 years of construction document experience in the design & construction industry.
Current Professional licensing in the State of Texas preferred.
Complete understanding of 3 part CSI MasterFormat, specification writing process, formats and language.
Experience working with AIA MasterSpec libraries a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Access.
Experience with specification narratives, outline specs, full language specifications and managing assembly of specification manuals a plus.
You will be expected to collaborate with project managers and manage multiple ongoing projects, provide supplemental product research, work with administrative support staff to produce project manuals, meet with vendors and organize firm technical information resources.
Have a working knowledge of current codes and standards, specifically but not limited to ICC codes, sustainability principles, LEED specifications, EPA Energy Star, ASTM, other common industry standards, and current construction technology.
Detail orientation with strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to write clearly, concisely, and without misunderstanding.
