The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategic Communications' is responsible for communications, marketing and public relations for UC Davis Health and for increasing external and internal understanding and awareness of the health system's programs, services, brand, and image. The AVC for Strategic Communications will represent UC Davis Health to the community, public, and media and will have responsibility for marketing, public relations, web and digital communications, internal communications, and physician and consumer communications. The AVC for Strategic Communications provides strategy and creative direction for communications and marketing programs and products directed to internal and external audiences. The position occupies a highly visible leadership role within the institution and the community, and works collaboratively with senior executives, faculty, administrators and community stakeholders who contribute to UC Davis' mission and success. The AVC for Strategic Communications serves as a trusted expert and advisor to senior leadership on all communications and issues management topics.REQUIRED'-A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications,Business Administration or a related discipline. -'10 years of substantial and progressive marketing and communications knowledge and experience in both disciplines and management experience, in a large and complex environment, preferably an academic medical center or other large healthcare organization.-'Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships 'Excellent written and oral presentation skills; exceptional listening and facilitation skills.'-Experience in journalist relations and in managing/understanding the growth of blog journalism and social media communications.'-Expert in proactive media and public relations as well as crisis communications and issue management.'-Ability to function in a public sector institution, understanding protocol with regulatory agencies, alumni, donors and other important external and internal stakeholders.'-Demonstrated success in brand positioning, management and message strategy development for a variety of audiences (e.g., general public, faculty, alumni, current and prospective patients, civic leaders, diverse population groups, etc.). -'A track record in formulating and implementing effective and innovative service line marketing initiatives.'-Proven analytic skills and experience in using financial and planning data, market research and competitive analysis to manage a marketing organization, including experience monitoring results with a focus on ROI and/or other success metrics.'-Aptitude for identifying new trends in consumer information needs. Proactive; thinks ahead of the curve and anticipates changes. Highly attuned to trends in consumers' need for information.'-Current understanding of broad, political, economic, and social issues facing healthcare and academic organizations today. Understanding of biomedical research and translational science and their role in and impacts on a global society. '-Proven track record of successfully partnering with fund development leaders in the institution to craft consistent and effective communications to current and prospective donors.PREFERRED '-A Master's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business --Administration or a related discipline preferred.
