ABOUT GADS HILL CENTER:
Established in 1898 as a settlement house serving the Pilsen community, Gads Hill Center has expanded to serve children, youth and families from sites in North Lawndale, Brighton Park, Pilsen and Chicago Lawn and multiple school-based locations. Our formal programs, including early childhood education, comprehensive family support, academic and social-emotional support, school-based mental health and community nutrition education, serve over 4,000 families annually. In addition, the agency reaches over 15,000 individuals annually through one-time community health and fitness events.
Under the general direction of the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator coordinates the organization’s development strategy and stewardship activities related to non-profit fundraising and relationship management, including working with a team to create and implement the fundraising, development and communications strategy. This role will serve as the catalyst for a successful career in non-profit fundraising and relationship management for the right candidate. This position requires a high-energy, detail-oriented, highly organized individual. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important.
Assist with the creation and implementation of the Departments’ Operational Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including annual appeals, major donors, grants, corporate and individual appeals, social media and special events.
Maintains Donor Perfect database ensuring accurate and timely entry of gifts pledged and/or received.
Generates gift reports on a weekly basis.
Generates gift acknowledgment letters on a regular and timely basis for individual, corporate and foundation donors.
Produces donor reports as needed to assist with monthly reconciliation
Serves as agency point-person for in-kind donations; coordinates receipt, distribution and acknowledgement of in-kind donations; and produces monthly
Develops marketing materials, including PowerPoint presentations, for external communications
Follows up on contacts made by the Director of Development and supports the cultivation of ongoing relationships.
Supports the Director of Development with individual donor cultivation including scheduling meetings, site visits, and drafting letters
Researches topics for monthly newsletter, web site updates, Facebook, blog and Twitter messages as needed
Assist with planning, organizing, and promoting the organization’s special events including Gala, Golf Outing and any other internal or external special events
Ensures receipt and acknowledgement of event donations
Staff’s special events committee(s)
Coordinates Holiday Wishes Gift Drive
Provides support to other agency/programmatic events (PlayStreets, Transition events, Holiday parties, etc)
Annual Appeals/Individual Giving
Coordinates production and mailing of direct mail appeals
Generate mailing lists for direct mail appeals, event invitations, save the dates and other external communications
Produces donor reports as needed to assist with reconciliation
Young Professional Board/Committee
Assists chair/co-chair with overall direction and strategy for board
Build a robust agency-wide volunteer program to sustain a strong pipeline of committed volunteers and prospective donors
Work collaboratively with Director of Programs to develop volunteer recruitment, cultivation and stewardship strategies to increase long-term volunteer engagement
Represents GHC at external events as requested by Director of Development and/or CEO
Gads Hill Center serves families in the communities of west and southwest Chicago with programming that provides early childhood education, academic support and enrichment, social-emotional development and family support. Our programs include home visiting for pregnant mothers and young children, center-based early childhood education, after-school academic support, middle school mentoring and STE...M-focused college readiness for high school students.
Family support and parent engagement are key components of Gads Hill Center’s programs. Our staff supports parents in identifying their needs and setting goals.
