We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to focus heavily on infrastructure support of the Sandia enterprise software being used for data virtualization and ETL, data visualization, and data/analytic modeling. In addition, new methods to acquire, integrate, transform, and prepare/present data for use must be developed and deployed to enable robust data analytics and reporting and increase the value that can be obtained from information assets. New data services will be deployed and automated to deliver sustained capability to multiple current and future Sandia initiatives. The goal is to enable the delivery of data centric solutions in response to corporate/business concerns and mission challenges.
The primary mission of the Data Sciences Department is to increase the value that Sandia obtains from information assets. To accomplish this mission, the Department focuses on streamlining data access with governance, integrating and federating data, data quality issues, data virtualization, and the creation of a scalable analytic service architecture. Data Sciences provides data analytics and visualization services, and software engineering of applications in support of analytic tools. The goal is to enable Sandia to obtain actionable insights from data and make high-confidence decisions. We are dedicated to creating quality data and analytics products that have positive mission/corporate impact. Via data virtualization, Data Sciences assists data customers with issues related to data integration and disparate data sources. New data delivery and analytics technologies and methods are persistently evaluated for inclusion within the portfolio of Data Science services the Department offers.

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or in a relevant discipline plus five or more years of experience; or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or in a relevant discipline plus two or more years of experience.
Experience with deploying and administering software infrastructure and/or data products in a production environment.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Demonstrated ability to participate in large complex projects.
Experience with systems administration of COTS tools.
Familiarity with support/delivery of Web Services (REST [XML/JSON], SOAP), SSL (LDAP/AD), SharePoint/OData.
Strong expertise in SQL, Data Virtualization, Data Visualization, Data Transformation, and Linux/Unix Operating Systems.
Demonstrated ability to administer application/data/middleware services including: troubleshooting, architecting and scheduling maintenance jobs, performance tuning, patch updates, version upgrades, and high availability and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Data modeling and design experience.
Experience with ingestion, integration, and use of diverse data content.
Experience with the development of data and application solutions for multiple application/device platforms.
Process automation experience.
Ability to thrive in a teaming environment with a strong customer service ethic.
Working knowledge of Systems Engineering, ITIL best practices, and Agile delivery.
Demonstrated ability to analyze simple to complex business processes and procedures with goal of optimizing processes and resolving pain points.
Demonstrated ability to perform requirements gap analysis against out-of-the-box application/system functionality and suggest best practice solutions.
Demonstrated ability to review designs with business owners and ensure alignment of design activities with project goals.
Understanding of data collection, data modeling and analysis, and decision-making concepts; and implementation of systems that supports these concepts.
Current and active DOE Q-level security clearance (or equivalent).
Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
