Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic girls school for students in grades 5-12 founded in 1907, is seeking a Director of Institutional Advancement to oversee development, communications, external relations, marketing and alumnae programming. The successful candidate for this senior administrative position reports to the Head of School, and will serve as the chief fundraiser of the school, oversee a team of talented professionals, be the primary liaison to the Development Committee of the Board, and assume oversight for all development office budgets. The Director of Institutional Advancement will be responsible for all fundraising endeavors, including the Forest Ridge Fund (the school’s annual fund), special benefit events, major gifts, planned giving, grant writing, alumnae events and programming, and donor stewardship. In addition, s/he will oversee the staff who coordinate communications, public relations and marketing efforts of the school, including Mes Amis (the school magazine), the web site, social media and marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, articulate and experienced team leader and fundraiser who inspires confidence in the school’s mission and vision for girls’ education, with the ability to organize various constituencies toward a common philanthropic goal. This high-profile position requires superb oral and written communication skills, authentic enthusiasm, and a relentless energy for relationship building with both internal and external school constituencies. The Director of Institutional Advancement will be a collaborative leader who partners well with faculty, staff, alumnae, parents and other members of the school community. A first-rate story-teller, s/he will also be a deep listener with integrity, a pre-disposition to kindness and notable common sense.
Qualifications: The next Director of Institutional Advancement at Forest Ridge will have:
• a Bachelor’s degree
• 10+ years of fundraising and direct solicitation experience
• demonstrated ability to cultivate and close significant gifts
• experience in managing a team and working with key volunteers
• campaign experience would be ideal, but not essential
