As a Section Manager at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI), Power Systems Engineering Division (PSED), you will lead and manage technical teams for relay and protection studies, with experience in protection and controls, distribution studies, and the integration of renewable resources. Qualified candidate will possess experience for the application of equipment for T&D systems, with knowledge of standards, design, and equipment integration. Candidate should have experience in the interconnection process for transmission and also in distribution for Distributed Energy Resources (DER) such as solar, wind, energy storage, and combined cycle generation.
The following technical and commercial skills are desired:

Ability to lead a skilled technical team
Experience in system protection and coordination (at least 10-15 years)
Experience with protection for transmission line, cables, substation bus, power transformer, capacitor bank, shunt reactor, HVDC & FACTS, and generator plant protection and coordination
Ability to act as an owner’s engineer
Ability to lead work to adhere to PRC (Protection and Control) and FAC (Facilities Design, Connections, and Maintenance) standards
Protection and controls experience for transmission and distribution system
Distribution system studies experience
Experience in standards, design, and application for equipment in distribution system
Experience in renewable resource interconnection, equipment design and upgrades, coordinated control between resources and loads, unbalance, voltage problems, grounding, anti-islanding, and reverse power flows
DER solar, wind, and combined cycle generation interconnection experience
Familiar with concept and feasibility to design and commissioning studies
Familiar with layout and design of wind collector systems, interconnecting substations, and protective relaying and communications
Experience with generation testing and stability model development for traditional and renewable resources
Familiarity with automation and integration
Familiarity with substation design
Familiarity with line design
PhD or M. Sc. Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
10-15+ years of work experience interacting with utility sector (equipment apparatus, protection, engineering, operations, and planning).
Consulting background is a strongly preferred.
Fluent in regulatory, NERC standards (such as PRC, EOP, TPL, CIP, and MOD), and utility business T&D initiatives.
Fluent in protection, controls, and design studies.
Knowledge in basic economic analysis and cost justification/estimation.
Versed in recent areas of renewable resource integration, distributed energy resources, energy storage, revamping of the distribution system to accommodate smart grid (grid modernization), and other areas impacting the utility transmission and distribution systems.
Versed on system reinforcement and power electronics based solutions.
Able to manage overall portfolio of needs of utility in setting and executing transmission and distribution system reinforcement strategies.

System studies require knowledge across many disciplines with background in theoretical, practical/system operations, testing, equipment design, industry standards, and software areas.
