This function will work with executive and senior business segment leadership on all phases of process to implement growth oriented initiatives. Positions will work collaboratively to (1) define relationship objectives and actionable initiatives, (2) prepare financial and economic analyses, (3) identify pros, cons, and other strategic considerations, (4) structure collaboration from a legal, tax, accounting and an economic standpoint, (5) perform due diligence, (6) negotiate definitive agreements, (7) monitor competitive actions and responses, and, (8) advance specific value creating initiatives. Positions will provide executive management with confidence that material strategic initiatives are rigorously assessed and appropriately structured to achieve acceptable financial returns and risk. The Senior Associate, Corporate Business Development is an emerging leader with extensive experience in financial modeling and financial analysis. This person is a creative, strategic thinker who applies broader concepts and historical context to today?s challenges. The Senior Associate, Corporate Business Development is an integral member of the team responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and decision making rigor to external growth initiatives. This person must earn the trust of UnitedHealth Group leaders and will act as a subject matter expert on disciplined processes to evaluate growth related opportunities. The Senior Associate, Corporate Business Development will conduct high-level research and develop financial models and complex analysis to support executive decision making. This individual will participate in the management of specific enterprise-wide relationships. In addition, the Senior Associate, Corporate Business Development, will support large teams of functional experts in the performance of due diligence to evaluate and assess opportunities. The Senior Associate, Corporate Business Development will coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously and will have the opportunity to provide mentoring and guidance to junior team members in a collaborative environment. As a key member of our fast-paced Corporate Business Development team, this position would put you at the forefront of significant growth initiatives, providing extensive exposure to executive and senior leadership throughout our organization and an opportunity to transform health care. Primary Responsibilities:Conduct high-level research and assessments using publicly available resources such as research reports, SEC filings, industry information, etc.Develop financial models with appropriate underlying assumptionsPerform specific financial and valuation analysisAnalyze industry trends, competitive threats and expansion opportunitiesWork with UnitedHealth Group executives and senior business segment leadership to develop strategic rationale and initiatives to advance external growth Support large cross-functional teams working on complex growth-related strategic initiatives across UnitedHealth GroupParticipate in the planning, design, development, and implementation of major business initiativesAct as subject matter expert for senior leaders across UnitedHealth Group related to our disciplined process to evaluate growth related opportunitiesMaintain effective communications with all levels of management that foster a collaborative atmosphereNegotiate with counterparties and intermediariesMentor and develop junior team members
Required Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience within investment banking, research, strategy consulting or corporate strategy, and financial planning and analysisBS/BA degree MBAExpert in Excel, financial modeling, and financial statement analysis skillsDemonstrated creativity and initiative Strong planning, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skillsEffective communications skills and proven team commitmentDemonstrated ability to collaborate with and build effective business partnerships at senior levelsHigh energy, detail oriented, and creative individualPreferred Qualifications:CFA and/or CPA designationHealthcare industry knowledgeUnitedHealth Group is working to create the health care system of tomorrow.
