Maret seeks a Director of Community Engagement and Partnership to continue to expand and strengthen the school’s nationally known program. In keeping with Maret’s mission and philosophy, the Community Engagement and Partnerships program aims to empower and prepare students to effect positive, transformative change in their communities. As students explore their own identities within broader social and historical contexts, they learn how to question conventional ways of knowing and being and how to advocate for a better future. Our program aspires to develop within our students the skills and passion for a lifetime of strong civic engagement.
The Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships is a key member of the administrative team, reporting directly to the Assistant Head of School for Student Life. We seek highly collaborative candidates who possess a versatile skill set, bringing both outstanding attention to detail and logistics while also leading our K-12 programs through a commitment to social justice, experiential education and equity and inclusion.
Experience working with K-12 students in a variety of community engagement programs, such as community service, service learning, experiential learning, and social justice initiatives.
Experience developing lessons which support a wide variety of student identities in experiential learning programs.
Experience supporting K-12 faculty in developing and leading curriculum with community engagement components.
Has an extensive network and knowledge of local, national and international non-profit organizations.
Experience planning and overseeing large community events involving multiple constituencies.
A commitment to community engagement in all three divisions of the school, and knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for our youngest to our oldest students.
Strong administrative and budgeting skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability and enjoyment of working regularly off campus with children.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
Oversee existing core community engagement programs from grades K-9, such as Martha’s Table, SOME, Rock Creek Conservancy, Mazique Early Childhood Program, DC Central Kitchen, and Math Buddies.
Accompany faculty on weekly service trips and serve as key liaison between Maret and our institutional partners.
Join faculty as a thought partner in developing community engagement experiences, provide contacts and logistical assistance.
Coordinate and oversee budget and all logistics regarding transportation, food, and materials for engagements.
Drive Maret students to and from sites which includes some weekend and evening responsibilities.
Represent Maret in local and national organizations promoting civic engagement and partnership.
Coordinate drives, benefit concerts and other fundraising initiatives in different divisions.
Plan and lead community and division-wide annual events, such as MLK Service Fair and Community Service Day.
Collect and assess data to review on an annual basis each core community engagement program.
