In this role, you'll use your strong customer service orientation and knowledge of insurance claims to serve as an advocate for providers in our networks. The Physician Advocate is responsible for the full range of provider relations and service interactions within UnitedHealth Group, including working on end-to-end provider claim and call quality, ease of use of physician portal and future service enhancements, and training & development of external provider education programs. Physician Advocate design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers (physician), and practice managers. Responsibilities also include directing and implementing strategies relating to the development and management of a provider network, identifying gaps in network composition and services to assist the network contracting and development staff in prioritizing contracting needs, and may also be involved in identifying and remediating operational short-falls and researching and remediating claims. The Physician Advocate role will be to support the Community and State line of business in the Sacramento market. Primary Responsibilities:Offer knowledge regarding all productsProviding support for Federally Qualified Health Care Centers (FQHC's)Claims process and billingWorking with individual physician offices and understanding their practice management operations and systemsUse pertinent data and facts to identify and solve a range of problems within area of expertiseInvestigate non - standard requests and problems, with some assistance from othersWork exclusively within a specific knowledge area Prioritize and organize own work to meet deadlinesProvide explanations and information to others on topics within area of expertiseDesigns and implements programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers and practice managers
Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience1+ years of experience within provider relations and / or provider network Experience with claims processing and issue resolutionExperience creating and delivering presentationsIntermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint The ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the Sacramento Bay AreaMust be willing and able to commute to an office-based position daily within Sacramento, CAPreferred Qualifications:Experience with or knowledge of Medi – Cal, HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid Regulations (All products)Experience with or knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Care Centers (FQHC's)Experience with and knowledge of Claims process and billingExperience with physicians, hospitals, ancillary groups & facilities, etc. Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
