Adelphi International is a partnership between Adelphi University and Shorelight Education. The mission of the International Accelerator Program is to immerse international students in the academic and cultural life of the university, help them integrate into campus life, and provide the support that increases their academic successes and likelihood in obtaining their degree.
Adelphi Internationalseeks a dynamic individual to develop and leadourCareer Accelerator initiative for partner students enrolled at Adelphi University. Reporting to the Career Accelerator Director with a dotted line to the Managing Director, Adelphi University, theCareer Accelerator ProgramManager will work closely with our campus leadership teams and university partners to manage the existing Undergraduate Career Accelerator initiative and MasterCareer Accelerator initiative for graduate students. The ProgramManager will also work directly with students, preparing them for global and local internship opportunities, and serving as a local contact to nurture employer relationships and promote the organizations to students.
The Program Manager will be a self-starter who is motivated by the challenge. Essential duties include employer outreach and relationship development; internship coordination; teaching educational workshops, presentations, and career-related courses; coordinating career outreach programs and events; conducting one-on-one career coaching appointments; and working on special projects that address the career development needs of our students, continually expanding the student user base and scope of services provided to all our stakeholders.
The Program Manager will be an integral member of the Adelphi International leadership team. Successful candidates will be skilled team players who can successfully lead the establishment of enrichinginternship experiences for international students,including accountability for career coaching, advising, and program development.A main responsibility of this role will be to work with partner leadership teams to ensure all concepts and details for the Undergraduate and Master Career Accelerator services as well as subsequent internship experiences are agreedupon.
The Program Manager will support both the Garden City and Manhattan campuses.
Manage all career development services in collaboration with Adelphi University departments (including the Adelphi Career Center)
Monitor, analyze and evaluate current scope of services offered; implement and direct new programs under the supervision of the Career Accelerator Director and in coordination with the Managing Director
Take overall responsibility to guarantee internship preparation and search assistance for students who meet criteria
Secure new internship opportunities through the development and implementation of partnerships with employers on a state, regional, national and international level
Manage internship logistics and resolve workplace issues, ensuring that employer relationships and internship opportunities adhere to the high standards Shorelight, the university partners, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principals of Ethical Professional Practice
Work to continuously improve the Undergraduate and Master Career Accelerator programs and internship experience
Assist students in navigating the career development, planning, and implementation process by leading students through the Career Accelerator and Master Career Accelerator programs
Supervise, design, present, and/or coordinate career preparation and professional development workshops and classroom presentations with enthusiasm and creativity
Conduct one-on-one progress and coaching sessions
Utilize discretion and independent judgment while working with confidential and sensitive student information during the career orientation, program adoption, and career coaching process
Inspire change in students through instruction and guidance on how to reflect on previous experiences, make career-related decisions, and help increase career-related self-efficacy
Liaise with all areas of the Adelphi University Career Center to include career development, experiential education, employer relations and operations, ensuring that existing services are leveraged and integrated
Coordinate withAdelphiCareerCenter to:
Conduct career exploration and experiential education activities such as job shadowing, externships, etc.
Track participation of and contact with students; collect qualitative and quantitative data that illustrates the success stories of program participants
Contribute to Career Center key performance indicators

Connect with campus leadership teams, key university-partner staff, and Shorelight Education colleagues, maintaining trust through open channels of communication
Supervise or lead information sessions and opt-in processing for the Undergraduate and Master Career Accelerator programs
Ensure student preparedness for participation in educational internships, post-graduate job searches, and other career goals
Collaborate with Adelphi International Marketing Coordinator in the development of collateral to promote the Master and Undergraduate Career Accelerator programs to existing and potential students
Perform other duties as assigned
Master's Degree or completion of degree by time of hire and educational preparation in education, counseling, human resources, cross-cultural psychology, global studies, or related area
Experience in career services and experiential education, recruiting or human resources
Five years of teaching, training, or group facilitation experience
Experience working with international students and ability to exhibit cross-cultural awareness and understanding
Experience recruiting, leading, motivating, coaching, developing, and retaining staff
Agency recruiting experience and knowledge of industry trends desired
Technical aptitude and experience with spreadsheets and/or databases
Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials
Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
High energy level, confident and optimistic demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Organizational and long-range planning skills with the ability to handle numerous details
Excellent time management, project management, prioritization, and organizational skills
Results focus and strong management skills with the flexibility to handle multiple tasks
Ability to publicly represent Shorelight and partner institutions at events and seminars
Problem solving, decision-making, and creative thinking abilities
Hands-on approach to customer service and business growth
