B&W Energy Services is searching for a Project Engineer in the Houston Area to join its Engineering Team to develop and design engineering procedures for B&W’s clients, both domestic and international. Clients include Shell, Exxon, Kiewit, Burns & McDonnel, Flour, Bechtel, among many, many others.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Project engineers exercise overall design management responsibility for the completion of assigned projects on time, under budget, in complete conformance with client plans, specifications and other contract documents; and to the total satisfaction of the client.
Essential Functions:
Development of commissioning cleaning engineering procedures for major petrochemical, power and refining projects. This includes but is not limited to; specification creations, specification review, determination of optimal cleaning methods, marking up P&ID’s, choosing system boundaries, 3-D model review, and direct client interaction during development.
Design of specific commissioning cleaning activities including high-pressure and low-pressure steam blows, high and low-pressure air blows, chemical cleaning, oil flushing, pulse flushing and any other special flushing operation. These activities include compressible and incompressible fluid flow calculations and interpretation, heat transfer calculations, pump sizing, pipe stress and flexibility analysis interpretation and procedure preparation.
Technical review and interpretation of request for quotations received from prospective clients.
Continuous improvement and development of equipment design(s).
Perform pre-bid review of plans, specifications and other contract documents for all potential project assignments. Advise the sales team of any special cost, schedule, or quality considerations for inclusion in project proposals. Subject to availability, attend pre-bid meetings and maintain communication with the sales team as necessary to ensure the accuracy of contract bids.
Collaborate, cooperate and frequently work with all company technical advisors, salesmen, project engineers and office personnel.
Maintain an open and transparent line of communication with the B&W team.
Maintain a positive and proactive attitude at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role you:
Must have a BS in mechanical, chemical, industrial engineering or related field with at least 5 years of working experience.
Must be experienced at mechanical design of systems consisting of flow related hardware including but not limited to; pumps, heat exchangers, valves, silencers, and associated equipment.
Must be experienced at creating and maintaining bill of materials (BOM).
It would be beneficial to:
Be able to analyze, compare and interpret facts and figures quickly.
Have knowledge of power plants, refineries and crude upgraders, ethylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycol, methanol, sulfur and gas plants.
