Position Summary: The Head Coach of Mount Mary’s NCAA Division III volleyball program is an integral member of the Athletic Department and requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who is determined to see that the program’s roster and success goals are met. This individual must be committed to the Athletic Department pillars to “Recruit, Retain, and Develop”.
The Assistant Director of Athletics will collaborate with the Director of Athletics to maintain and strengthen the athletics department in the areas of budgeting, revenue, recruiting, retention and development.
The Head Women’s Volleyball Coach / Assistant Director of Athletics works primarily with coaches, students, faculty, and other administrative offices to ensure that each Mount Mary University student receives quality experience.
Head Volleyball Coach --Recruitment—coordinate recruiting efforts to meet discussed benchmarks to ensure the volleyball program is playing and practicing at or above the ideal number of student-athletes. --Provide monthly recruiting updates to Athletic Director --Prepare and conduct all practice and game plans --Prepare travel arrangements for team away games --Follow budget guidelines set forth by Athletic Director --Responsible for putting a schedule together that meets NCAA Division III requirements --Assist with staffing and overseeing gameday responsibilities for other sports --Attend staff and /or institution meetings when required --Promote and encourage a positive learning experience for student athletics --Knowledge of, and adherence to, NCAA Division III rules regarding recruiting, eligibility, and compliance. --Hire, train, supervise and evaluate assistant coaching staff including 1 Graduate Assistant.
Assistant Director of Athletics --Participate in the senior management team within the Athletic Department to include the support of the Mount Mary University mission and the philosophy of NCAA Division III athletics. --Provide support and guidance to head coaches to help them reach recruiting and retention goals. --Assist in budget planning, fundraising and development activities --Oversee the management the Bloechl Recreation Center, a 25,000 square foot on-campus athletic/recreational facility that includes a full-size gymnasium, training room, locker rooms, concessions, and fitness/aerobic center --Hire, train, supervise and evaluate student staff --Advise the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), by attending bi-monthly meetings and guiding efforts to organize fundraising, community service and hospitality events. --Assist in compliance with all NCAA regulations, reporting any possible infraction to the Director of Athletics. --Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience: --Bachelor’s degree --Master’s in field of Sport Management/Administration preferred. --Coaching experience required --College-level coaching experience preferred --Collegiate playing experience preferred --Must have experience within a collegiate athletic environment. --Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, & computer skills are required. --Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects. --Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group process and foster collaborative decision-making.
