Summary: Develop programs and strategies to identify, cultivate, track and solicit alumni, parents, churches, corporations, foundations, and friends of the University for gifts to fund identified campaign and or institutional priorities.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward gift prospects and donors; recommend and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies of individual prospects, working with administration, faculty, and volunteers as appropriate.
In conjunction with the Executive Director for University Advancement, set ambitious and attainable goals specifically aimed at cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects.
Cultivate and present proposals to corporations and foundations as appropriate.
Work with the Executive Director for University Advancement to execute a comprehensive capital and endowment campaign.
Collaborate with legal professionals in completing gift arrangements that require tax or estate planning.
Coordinate and attend various University events aimed at nurturing donor relationships.
Work collaboratively with advancement staff and other university departments to enthusiastically promote the mission of Missouri Baptist University.
Ability to evaluate effectiveness of development initiatives and generate regular reports that clearly and concisely communicate progress and results.
A Bachelor’s degree is required, a Master’s degree and/or CFRE is preferred.
Three to five years of full-time major gift fundraising experience is required, preferably in higher education.
High energy level and strong goal orientation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong attention to detail; and strong presentation, time-management and organizational skills.
Ability to articulate mission and vision combined with well demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate others.
Experience conducting prospect research and preparing donor proposals.
Demonstrated success in achieving revenue targets and goals.
Ability to adapt and respond to a variety of situations.
Knowledge of MS Office in addition to Raiser’s Edge software is preferred.
Must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear understanding of the distinct mission of the University.
