The Role: The Business Controls & Quality team (BCQ) forms part of the Content group's first line of defense and Governance structure looking at business controls and operational risk within the pricing process and other areas within content. This Quality role will be focused on a deep and rolling review of Price Assessments (methodology, data, tools and process), with the purpose being to provide a bottom up view of risk and quality, to provide assurance and transparency, and to drive continuous improvement.
The Impact: Not only will this role help the BCQ team (and Content more broadly) understand and manage the risk profile of price assessment processes from a deep level of detail, it will also be driving remediation and continuous improvement through the review cycle, having a tangible and immediate impact on quality

The Team: Business Controls and Quality is embedded in the Content organization and was built to provide assurance and controls expertise to Content leadership. They focus on ongoing monitoring and improving adherence to editorial standards, regulatory requirements and key controls. Through the assessment of operational risk in Content processes, they also continually improve controls, whilst working to optimise process. This includes a developing focus on the quality of price assessment output (which is the focus of this role), and also the governance of quantitative models in Analytics.
Experience within commodities pricing functions (front line experience) required.
Displays well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques, clear, concise writing style; and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
Must be highly structured, analytical, detail oriented
Knowledge of FAST standards and best practice code structure preferred)
Works well in a team environment, focusing on collaboration, flexibility and adaptability. Has subject matter expertise in at least one energy market with an appreciation of how markets interrelate

Accountabilities: Building and maintaining an inventory of price assessments, taking a structured and risk based approach to scheduling the reviews. Developing a transparent capacity model. Developing the methodology, process and templates for the reviews and ensuring that they are done to a consistent and high standard. Ensuring that the right governance is in place and use this structure to drive tangible outcomes from the reviews. Ensuring that the program is built out in consultation and collaboration with Content leadership.
Running the operation: o Build and maintain an inventory of price assessments o Build and maintain a schedule of reviews using a documented risk based approach and capacity model o Maintain review documentation, team charter and templates so that the process is structured and repeatable o Maintain a list of open and closed remediation plans for tracking and for trend analysis
Lead/Perform the reviews: o Be accountable for performing the reviews according to schedule o Ensure that reviews are done to a consistent and high standard
Define the Governance: o Ensure that summary level reviews are provided within governance meetings and that overdue/high risk remediation items are escalated and tracked in these meetings
Drive outcomes: o Ensure that the reviews have an overall risk rating (with a documented methodology) o Ensure that remediation requirements flagged in the reviews are risk ranked (with a documented methodology) o Ensure that remediation plans have an agreed owner and completion date o Track open remediation plans until these are verified as completed. Drive continuous improvement in price assessment processes as a 1st line team. o Work with BCQ (Controls) to help them understand the inherent and residual risks in price assessment processes by flagging high risk or repeated issues, and by participating in risk self-assessment routines
Own the Price Trend project: o Develop a strategy (in collaboration with Data Management, front line teams and Content Leadership) for how we would most effectively implement checks based on statistical rules to prevent errors before publication, and to monitor price quality post publication o Define the right operating model (roles & responsibilities, processes, governance) and required toolset for monitoring and improving quality o (If funded) Manage the implementation of the program and (potentially) take a role in the ongoing maintenance of the rules and alerts, and escalation of issues to resolution
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required (related field preferred). Master's degree in relevant field preferred
Knowledge of advanced statistics and mathematics required
Knowledge of FAST standards and best practice code structure preferred
Proven years of commodities industry experience required.
Experience within commodities pricing functions required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and strong MS Excel skills required.
