GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional, highly-motivated scale-up and manufacturing engineer to scale up cell-free bioprocessing and manufacture products using our core technology. The successful candidate will integrate with process development team and manage people and resources to scale the bio-processes to pilot and commercial scale. Strong technical, organizational, management and communication skills, and ability to cope up with a fast-paced environment, are essential.
Review, evaluate, develop manufacturing processes with man, machine, material and methods considered.
Develop, evaluate, and review instructions, specifications and methods to support the product life cycle transitions from development into production.
Lead/Perform cell-culture and cell free production campaigns (pilot-commercial) scale to support process definition, product development, demonstration runs for multiple programs in the pipeline.
Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Provides manufacturing decision-making information to support capacity planning for labor, production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
Completes design and development projects by training and guiding manufacturing personnel.
Has a firm understanding of all equipment for which he/she is responsible to include set-up, adjustment and assessment of possible improvements.
Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biological engineering, or equivalent.
7+ years of work experience in industrial biotechnology, food or pharmaceutical industry in a pilot plant process development and/or manufacturing setting.
Must have hands on experience with bioreactors/fermenters and related unit operations (such as primary cell separation, filtration, HTST, and drying unit operations) in bench, pilot and commercial scale.
Must have proven experience in process planning and development (project management, capacity planning, floor layout, material flows, capabilities).
Proven record of equipment design & selection, development and validation.
Fundamental understanding of principles of biochemical engineering, material & energy balances, scale up and manufacturing is required.
Proven record of commercializing bioprocesses from early stage to production stage is desired.
Experience with technical transfer of materials and processes to customers and/or contract manufacturing facilities is a plus.
Must be able to read engineering drawings.
Must be familiar with continuous improvement philosophy and implementation: statistical tools, Lean principles, six sigma, etc.
Experience with ASPEN, or similar software is a plus.
History of progressive responsibility and people management is a plus.
Must be highly-motivated with exceptional communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
