Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) consists of nearly 5,000 team members, in 50+ offices across North America, Europe, and Asia, focused on middle-market and large corporations and global institutional investors. Our sales, trading, origination, and research teams deliver a comprehensive set of capital market products and solutions to the broader Wells Fargo customer base, ranging from distribution of public debt and equity products to hedging interest rates, commodity, and equity risks.
Organized by industry sector, the Investment Banking team of Wells Fargo Securities is dedicated to understanding the unique competitive and operating environments of our clients. The group combines strong relationships and industry knowledge with superior capital markets and advisory capabilities that includes debt and equity underwriting, mergers and acquisitions, and loan syndications. Our team maintains active relationships with a broad universe of middle market, large corporate and institutional clients, and is highly experienced in delivering exceptional execution.
Summer Program The Summer Associate Program provides an in-depth understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a full-time investment banker. The duration of the summer program is approximately ten weeks. Summer associates receive a comprehensive professional and educational experience through on-the-job learning and practice by joining a business group and working alongside team members who are experts in their fields. In addition, the program offers organized activities that allow participants to receive analytical training, meet senior executives, network with other summer associates across business lines, and form lasting friendships.

Leveraged Finance Originates, structures, underwrites, and syndicates various debt (including high yield) and quasi-equity securities for corporate and financial sponsor clients. Provides financing solutions tailored to corporate and financial sponsor clients to support acquisition financing, growth financing, recapitalizations and/or refinancing transactions.
Global Institutional Client Group The Global Institutional Client Group (GICG) is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with the largest and most sophisticated institutional investors around the world. GICG introduces and delivers the Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) product suite to these key clients by partnering with broader Wholesale teams in Corporate Banking (CBG), Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Commercial Capital, Middle Market Banking (MMB) and Government & Institutional Banking (GIB). GICG client segments include Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Family Offices, U.S. Pensions and Endowments, WIM, and Strategic Investment Firms (International Pensions, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Superannuation Funds and Financial Sponsors).
Mergers and Acquisitions / Advisory Assists middle market and large corporate clients in achieving their strategic and financial objectives in partnership with industry and specialty coverage groups. Services include sell side advisory, buy side advisory, strategic financial advisory, fairness opinions, takeover defense, and private equity placements.
Regional Investment Banking Group Provides investment banking coverage to select middle-market clients and emerging growth companies in Wells Fargo's core commercial and retail geographic footprint. The group advises middle market financial sponsors and has dedicated merger and acquisition execution capabilities.
Full-time Associate Opportunities Based on outstanding performance, summer associates may receive an offer to join the Investment Banking Associate Program upon receiving an MBA. Prior to joining a business unit on a full-time basis, associates participate in an eight week, comprehensive training program in Charlotte. The training brings together all the associates from various lines of business and includes classroom instruction in financial accounting, cash flow, credit analysis, financial modeling, valuation as well as preparation for the Series 79 and 63 license exams. Wells Fargo professionals and consultants with special expertise in their fields equip associates with the skills, knowledge and tools to make an immediate contribution to their team. Associates will also receive on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and feedback throughout their tenure.
Responsibilities As active team members in a focused industry or product group, associates help orchestrate capital raising and strategic advisory transactions. Associates assume significant responsibility that may include:
Developing and maintaining models to depict projected financial results and to value companies
Supporting various financial analyses, including valuations and merger consequences
Performing comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research
Preparing presentations and other materials for clients
Conducting research, participating in strategic planning and assisting in the execution of advisory services
Participating in client meetings, due diligence visits, and other client interactions to gain exposure to key executives and senior bankers
Developing and mentoring junior talent

A first year MBA student (anticipated graduation date May-June 2020) working to obtain a master’s degree in business administration with coursework in financial accounting and corporate finance

An individual who demonstrates a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
Demonstrated excellence in working effectively as an individual and as part of a team
Strong personal motivation, attention to detail and creative mindset
