We are seeking applicants for a System Administrator for our Energy Management System (EMS) and all Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This person will perform administrative duties to ensure the proper function of these systems.
What You'll Do
You will design SCADA human-machine interface (HMI) to improve usability including one line screens, historian reporting, display updating, and troubleshooting stale or inaccurate data from Wabash Valley Power via ICCP, and more. You also will administer the EMS, including assisting in upgrades, system security, back-up testing, making corrections, monitoring load/generation data, managing and updating databases, and creating new functionality utilizing OSI Monarch SCADA system software. Additional responsibilities as assigned may include the following:
• Function as the primary WVPA SCADA/Help Desk support person and provide SCADAEMS system end user assistance for Wabash Valley Power field engineers, business units, and WVPA members • Prepare and transmit daily reports for various power transmission associations such as ACES, Midwest ISO (MISO), and PJM Transmission • Track and update the EMS display and trends, including writing new procedures for new or updated EMS functions • Maintain all EMS interconnections by various technologies (e.g. inter control center protocol servers) • Assist with new substation, equipment, or special database set-up for member systems and generation facilities including providing input to power supply and power production when requested • Coordinate and assist in the system administration of plant information servers • Create, edit, test, and maintain system scripts and custom software calculations written in bash, batch, PowerShell, OpenCALC, C, and SQL • Investigate, test, and implement new technologies that improve the performance, efficiency, security, and reliability of Wabash Valley Power's systems
You will be an ideal fit if you have strong analytical and technical skills to properly gather and analyze data to draw conclusions to assist business decisions. You have strong problem solving skills to obtain multiple assessments of a situation and evaluate a variety of potential solutions. You can speak persuasively, present new ideas to people in positions of authority, and respond well to suggestions and objections. Additional ideal qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree or associate degree with relevant experience in a technical field (preferably computer or electric/electronics preferred) required • Three to four years of prior experience in an engineering technology capacity preferred; previous experience with EMS/SCADA and networking preferred • Familiarity with scripting languages, SQL, and C is a plus
