The Springfield Headquarters is currently seeking applicants for an Energy Management System (EMS) Analyst in the Information Services Division. As part of the Solution Engineering team, the EMS Analyst will define, design, develop, test, deploy and maintain system changes to support the reliable operations of Associated’s Electric Grid by System Operators. This includes management and administration of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) hardware and communication networks, database modeling, programming, display design, and may include other technical activities within our EMS vendor’s software package. The EMS Analyst often serves as project lead and coordinates efforts with more senior and more junior developers, and will share responsibility for determining architecture of solutions across the system. This position will also partner with internal business partners in order to assess their needs and recommend the systems that will achieve their long-term vision.
Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or other related technical field or commensurate experience. All levels of experience will be considered with a preference for candidates with at least three years related experience. Technical requirements include familiarity with SCADA or HMI technologies AND experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting graphical user interface design, structured programming languages, real-time database modeling, network-distributed computer systems, and concurrent time-critical applications. Prior knowledge of EMS design, operations and components; bulk electrical power systems and components; and SCADA communications technology is preferred. C or C++ programming experience and a working knowledge of energy industry compliance regulations are a plus.
