Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation was established in 2010 with a mission of helping children, whose parents have a financial need, travel to the hospital for cancer treatment. We currently have a staff of two. We are looking for an individual who loves our mission to help us grow financially to serve more children and families.
There is no shortage of families facing financial challenges when their children are battling cancer. There is, however, a shortage of funding that we have available to help them put gas in their cars to get their child to treatment. The perfect development person to help us reduce the number of times we have to say no to a family in need is a self-starter with proven fundraising success.
We have a large database of donors that can be targeted to give more and to give more often. This would be your responsibility. There are many companies and individuals who have never given to our organization, but with the right introduction and cultivation could become strong supporters. We need you to find them and get them on board with supporting our kids. As long as the funding comes flooding into our organization, you will be empowered to be as creative as you want to be with this role.
This is a critical position in the growth of our organization and we need a rockstar. If you are a development rockstar, then we need you!
We do have an official check list of responsibilities, but if you know how to find donors, cultivate donors, ask donors for donations, thank donors, and do it over again without someone telling you what to do, then you could be the person we are looking to meet.
A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and a certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess an extremely high comfort level asking for contributions and gifts from donors. Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) along with ease and comfort presenting to large and small groups of individuals is essential.
Minimum of three years of experience in non-profit fundraising, with a proven track record of soliciting, closing, and stewarding gifts of $1,000+
Demonstrated knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques for business and individual funders
Superior writing, presentation, and communication skills, with ability to adapt based on audience
Outstanding interpersonal skills, high energy level, and ability to speak persuasively in front of donors and partners
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with Salesforce.com is preferred, along with proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
Flexibility, humility, patience, and a good sense of humor
Occasional evening, weekends, and possible overnight travel
Own reliable vehicle available for work purposes
Ability to travel as needed
