The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is recruiting for a Director, Schools’ Engagement and Membership. This position has matrix reporting between and membership in the Global Engagement and Volunteer and Engagement divisions, reporting to the Executive Director Global Engagement and the Senior Director, Member Engagement, and works closely with the Marketing and Communications Education and Operations divisions.
This is a global role that can be located in any CASE office, London, Mexico City, Singapore or Washington, DC, or could also be on a remote basis. The role will involve work with CASE staff, members and volunteers in all geographies.

These professionals are at all stages of their career and may be working in universities, schools, colleges, the arts and cultural sector or other not-for-profits. CASE membership also includes many corporate partners. CASE uses the intellectual capital and professional talents of an extensive network of volunteers to advance its work.

CASE works to achieve a seamless experience for all its communities: particularly its members, volunteers and staff. Its new strategic plan seeks to make CASE truly global. Working together across time zones and borders, CASE staff in all offices seek to make this ambitious OneCASE aspiration a reality.
CASE currently has more than 1,100 school members, which makes up roughly 31% of its total global institutional membership. For more than 40 years CASE has partnered with the U.S.-based National Association of Independent Schools on an annual conference, which regularly attracts around 1,100 participants. More recently, CASE has partnered on activities with other agencies serving the sector including the Australia-based Educate Plus and the London-based Educational Collaborative for International Schools. In addition, CASE has delivered work targeted to this community including the Summer Institute for Independent Schools and school-specific tracks, master classes and forums held in conjunction with existing CASE events in Asia-Pacific, Europe and Latin America.
CASE is eager to expand membership and deepen engagement with independent and international schools and has established significant growth targets for this sector.
This is a new post and the post holder will lead, co-ordinate and manage work to achieve deeper engagement with our current members as well as to identify and engage potential new members, with a goal of growing CASE’s school membership globally. It will act as a catalyst within CASE to harness the talents of staff and volunteers around the world and focus them on the schools market. Using creativity, entrepreneurial flair, networking skill and business development acumen, the post holder will ensure the creation and delivery of sustainable support, programming and services for school leadership and advancement communities. It also will work to ensure that existing CASE work continues to evolve to meet the needs of current and future school members. Travel is an expectation of the role.
The initial focus of this new post will be to achieve membership and revenue growth by targeting the large and growing community of international schools. Working with colleagues, it will also explore opportunities to expand CASE’s independent school membership within North America and across the world.
Work will include:
Using data and networks to develop a deep understanding of existing and potential schools communities.
Learning to support emerging communities, especially those where offices may be small, multi-tasking and where advancement is often a new concept.
Making best value of all CASE resources and expertise; forging relationships with CASE staff and volunteers in all offices and geographies to deliver work for schools.
Working hard to connect CASE to and embed CASE in schools networks and communities.
Helping to develop and communicate a clear membership value proposition for schools.
Working to curate and signpost appropriate digital content – as well as commission and create new digital content – that meets the needs of the schools market.
Working with Education Division colleagues across the world to develop, deliver and communicate an annual calendar of programming for schools, including exploring the potential of creating an annual global conference for international school professionals.
Identifying and stewarding alliances and potential partnerships with other school-related partners.
Working with, developing and managing the existing Independent Schools Leadership Group as well as the emerging International Schools Advisory Group.
Generating new income to achieve the outcomes desired.
Developing and managing budgets to support schools activities and ensuring that CASE resources are utilized effectively and responsibly.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisors.
Key Qualifications, Experience and Education:
A deep understanding of and hands on experience in an international or independent school or in an agency that works with them.
Demonstrable hands-on ability to lead individuals and groups of people to achieve goals and targets on a timely and effective basis, especially where the outcomes are achieved by influence as well by line management.
Senior management experience gained ideally in a membership/training association or not-for-profit/education environment.
Creativity, entrepreneurial flair, networking skill and business development acumen.
Experience of successful income generation, budget setting and sound financial acumen.
Significant experience in one or more of the professional strands CASE membership within a school context – marketing, communications, fundraising, alumni relations, etc.
A strong communicator with rapport who is approachable and a good listener.
Experience managing high profile volunteers and advisory groups.
College or university degree required; post graduate qualification desirable.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
