To ensure effective communications that positively inform and educate members, employees, business and community leaders, legislators, news media and the general public about the Cooperative. Oversee all Public Relations, Communications, Member Relations and Event Planning/Food Services activities. Develop a corporate public relations and communications plan that brands GreyStone Power as a leader in the utility industry and business community, creating recognized value for members. Manage the recruitment and supervise the services of a public relations/advertising agency.
Implement and oversee the performance and management of department employees including goal setting, providing feedback, performance appraisals, wage and salary adjustments and training.
Work with the Vice President of Marketing & External Affairs to coordinate GreyStone’s Annual Meeting.
Create and guide an effective branding strategy that achieves the Corporation’s objectives.
Develop and manage annual advertising, editorial and strategic messaging campaigns.
Plan, create, edit and publish:
Member newsletters, print and electronic.
Monthly internal newsletter.
News releases for local, regional, and national newspapers, magazines, radio, and television.
Develop signs, brochures, forms, bill inserts, etc.
Supportive materials in corporate charitable endeavors.
Photographs and videos of GreyStone and community events.
Direct the work of the Cooperative’s selected printing companies, arranging for printing and delivery.
Manage the content and daily maintenance of GreyStone’s Website and Intranet. Oversee all social media strategy and content.
Serve as a media spokesperson for the Cooperative.
Oversee the following programs and events:
Partners in Education
Washington Youth Tour
Safety Recognition and other employee and member events.
Oversee the maintenance of an orderly library for newspaper and magazine articles, slides, photographs, videos, and audiovisual equipment. Manage GreyStone’s archive collection.
Coordination of advertising for ancillary services including EMC Security, Gas South, GEMC Federal Credit Union, SurgeMaster Plus.
Prepare and manage annual department budget.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing or public relations.
Minimum of seven (7) years working in communications or public relations. Supervisory experience a plus.
Certification by the National Council of Electric Communicators (CCC) desired.
Superior oral and written communication skills a must, including the ability to represent the co-op in settings ranging from one-on-one encounters with the media to presentations to significant local and/or industry audiences
Proficiency in using social media to promote public relations.
Proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple and competing tasks and responsibilities.
Superior judgement and wisdom in handling confidential information.
Excellent desktop publishing skills required utilizing current technology and software.
Ability to develop relationships with area news media, advertising representatives, industry colleagues, etc.
Work under pressure.
Ability to handle crisis situations with the news media.
Must satisfactorily pass the EMC's employment physical examination and required drug screens.
Requires a valid Georgia driver's license.
