Provides development support and analysis of system operations, procedures, processes and practices to promote efficient and reliable operations. Develops and reviews energy accounting calculations, ensuring that data is applied appropriately and accurately, implements corrections and other changes as necessary. Provides both routine and intensive analysis of electrical disturbances as well detailed power flow analysis. Recommend changes in procedures based on results of analysis. Interface with other entities and groups at all levels associated with system operations and reliability.
Performs required analysis and provides input and support to resolutions for issues associated with system operations and system outages.
Assist in development, modification, and implementation of EMS Applications
Advise and assist on the development and maintenance of databases and spreadsheets for system operation
Provide technical support to System Operations, Engineering, Operations & Maintenance, Transmission Planning, Energy Services and other departments as needed.
Assist in the development of regulatory reports and compliance documents to NERC, WECC, ACC, RUS, and other regulatory bodies.
Serve on various committees as needed
Develop and review EMS energy accounting calculations
Provide analytical assistance to other departments
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related applicable field.
Experience in an applicable Engineering field and experience in the utility field
Professional Engineer is desirable, but not required
Substantial understanding of the operations and dynamics of an electric transmission system
Knowledge of electrical metering, communications, and relay protection
Knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Knowledge of advanced operational and analytical software packages
High analytical skills
Knowledge of regulatory standards
Ability to work with Excel, Access, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to maintain and utilize power flow programs, i.e. PowerWorld and GE PSLF
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to develop and provide presentations

About Arizona G&T Cooperatives
Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO) is one of 62 generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperatives in the nation. AEPCO owns and operates the Apache Generating Station (Apache) near Cochise, Arizona, which is east of Benson. The plant provides power to more than 147,000 electric meters and 400,000 people in Arizona, California and New Mexico through six Class A Member distribution cooperatives. The plant has a combined gross generating capacity of 605 megawatts.
AEPCO also operates and maintains more than 622 miles of electric power transmission line and 27 substations in a network that reaches out from Apache and across Arizona to the northwestern corner of the state. The system includes more than 30 telecommunications towers used for phone and date relay services by AEPCO’s Member cooperatives and customers. From this network, our Member distribution electric cooperatives take the power and distribute it to their member-consumers at the end of the line.
