We are the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), an innovative professional medical association located in Darien, IL, a southwest suburb of Chicago.
We’re looking for a mid-level National Sales Manager to become an integral part of our sales team. This newly created position will be responsible for focusing on generating sales through our annual meeting and educational programs (exhibits, sponsorships and advertising), publication advertising and subscriptions, and industry support. j In addition, you’ll be tasked with building relationships with existing and prospective industry customers and cross training in our other business lines i.e. telemedicine, sleep scoring assessment system, educational program for sleep technologists. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing a variety of business relationships (i.e. exhibitors, sponsors and advertisers) and a successful sales track record.
What You’ll Do
Generate corporate support through the sales of print and digital advertising, annual meeting and educational course sponsorships and exhibit space, career center, supporter/sponsor programs.
Achieve annual sales goals and maintain budgets.
In conjunction with the Director of Business Development design exhibit hall floor plans, booth assignments, and develop new sponsorship opportunities.
Assist in developing customized marketing solutions to a variety of companies from multi-national pharmaceutical and manufacturing organizations, to small, independently-owned sleep centers.
Own and coordinate the entire sales cycle from identifying leads, driving and closing sales, contract generation, materials acceptance, proofing, billing, and relationship building.
Make sales calls to existing and prospective advertisers/sponsors.
Email and call advertising/sponsorship representatives regarding deadlines, new promotions, materials and reminders.
Initiate advertising contracts and collect artwork and review material for accuracy and compliance with AASM policies.
Act as the primary contact between other AASM staff and exhibitors/advertisers/sponsors.
Work with meetings and journal production staff to meet advertising deadlines.
Coordinate journal subscription renewal/recruitment processes, and order fulfillment.
Coordinate the AASM’s corporate support recognition program by tracking company revenue and coordinating benefits.
Monitor industry climate and trends.
Assist with developing and maintaining sales collateral and communications including exhibitor prospectus & sponsorship guides, media guides, rate cards, website content, business letters and e-mail updates.
Maintain budget, revenue status, and billing reports.
This position may require some travel, which would include weekends.
What We Need
Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum 5 years’ related experience
Proven success in outside sales. Possess and display motivation to achieve and exceed sales goals.
Ability to convert leads into sales through strategic planning, time management, and professional and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter with high energy level
Superior customer service skills and positive attitude.
Ability to coordinate sales within hard deadlines through proactive communication and organization
Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time; strong organizational skills required
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from current and potential customers
Ability to quickly learn details of new product offerings
Ability to accurately enter, maintain and interpret customer data
