Piedmont Community Health Plan was established in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1995 and is known as Central Virginia’s very own managed health care organization. With an experienced staff of nearly 100 employees, PCHP serves over 45,000 members across the region, offering Point of Service (POS) plans and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans to both large and small employers. In addition, Piedmont offers Med Advantage and Exchange Marketplace Plans. This position will report directly to the CEO and will manage the Accounting, Operations, Actuarial Services/Underwriting and IT teams. This position is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and operation of the financial services of the health plan. Responsibilities include directing all accounting, financial reporting, asset control, disbursement processing functions, as well as coordinating the preparation of all financial statements according to GAAP and SAP standards. The ideal candidate will be technically sound and innovative, hands-on and process oriented, and a versatile thought leader that can take concepts to reality.
Core Financial Functions:
Overall leadership responsibility for the existing accounting, finance and operations areas with all relevant reporting, transactional, and fiduciary responsibilities. Includes oversight of a Controller, Director of IT, Operations Manager, Financial Analyst, Chief Accountant, a Billing Manager and their respective teams.
Develop and monitor reporting and metrics which enables the parent company to focus on economic drivers, adjust tactics, and improve results across the organization.
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure on-going compliance with regulatory rules and laws for financial reporting.
Responsible for the development and distribution of membership and claims information to internal departments and external customers.
Responsible for overseeing audits and tax filings.
Board reporting and engagement.
Serve as the primary liaison to outside lenders, banking, Bureau of Insurance and other institutions.
Partner with the senior management team and ownership team to enhance overall financial and operational performance.
Partner with senior leaders to develop short-term planning, budgeting, strategic planning and forecasting, which is in alignment with the overall objectives of PCHP.
Assist in broadening business acumen among all personnel, which includes evaluating growth strategies and measuring ROI.

Overall responsibility and leadership of the Accounting, Operations, Actuarial Services/Underwriting and IT teams.
Responsible for the management and enforcement of the plans actuarial/underwriting practices and policies in a manner that will meet the objectives of the finance and marketing departments
Be transparent with information to enable accountability among all stakeholders while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
Oversee claims processing and monitoring of any changes.
The successful candidate will be an experienced finance executive with a minimum of 15 years of experience. S/he will have prior experience serving as a corporate or division-level CFO and have had oversight of a similarly sized organization.
