Help achieve East Central Energy’s mission to safely provide reliable service to members by planning, developing, implementing and monitoring all loss control and emergency preparedness programs of the cooperative for the purpose of providing a safe working environment for employees and ensuring compliance with governmental regulations. Provide electrical safety education and information to employees, school children, community groups and the public.
Develop, implement and monitor a safety and loss control program which provides for the optimum in protection for the cooperative’s employees, its members and the general public and environment.
Develop & maintain an industrial hygiene program for the cooperative.
Design, organize and conduct safety meetings and programs for Cooperative employees.
Design, organize and conduct safety presentations for schools and general public.
Develop, implement and maintain the emergency preparedness program of the Cooperative.
Maintain presence at outside safety organizations such as NUTSEA and Quad States, or others as appropriate.
Understands laws, codes, regulations, and rules regarding safety in order to evaluate current and develop new safety programs.
Understands electrical distribution system equipment to ensure all safety requirements are met.
Understands basic electrical line construction as it interacts with the electrical distribution system to assess safety issues.
Builds a positive safety environment by inspiring others to voluntarily follow the cooperative’s safety values.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Four-year industrial safety and hygiene or related degree, plus a minimum of 5 years related experience with specific responsibilities regarding safety assurance and emergency management; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Experience in electric utility required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Certified Loss Control Professional or Certified Utility Safety Administrator desired.
