The American Lung Association has a great opportunity for a Specialist, Health Promotions to join our incredible team in the Southwest Region. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education Team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education and advocacy.
In this role, you will be responsible for working with multi-unit housing representatives to bring tobacco cessation to low-SES populations in Colorado. Provide support for secondhand smoke and clean energy initiatives. Act as lead staff person for tobacco prevention and cessation, as well as all other tobacco initiatives. Offer public education, outreach, and resource referral for tobacco-related topics. This is a grant funded position.
Oversee statewide Freedom From Smoking adult smoking cessation program through Anthem grant to help low-SES multi-unit housing occupants quit smoking.
Assist in program promotion, outreach, trainings, and delivery of ONE Step secondhand smoke program.
Manage youth tobacco cessation program Not-on-Tobacco (N-O-T) to include program promotion, outreach, and delivery.
Assist Clean Cities Colorado team as required to complete grant deliverables.
Plan and execute all required activities and deliverables of all other grants.
Develop and manage new programs or projects as assigned.
Promote and support American Lung Association asthma and lung disease programs in Colorado.
Provide public education and community outreach on programs and tobacco-related topics throughout the state of Colorado.
Budget and Development
Stay within adults smoking cessation program budget.
Pursue new revenue streams, including programmatic sponsorships, grants, and partnership opportunities.
Maintain and build coalition network and distribution lists.
Network with relevant organizations, potential funders, and programmatic partners to communicate American Lung Association of Colorado and SoCo Clean Cities mission and programs.
Maintain and develop content for the Denver Metro Clean Cities Coalition website.
Organize and coordinate outreach and education events such as electric vehicle drive and rides and group buys to meet Refuel Colorado goals.
Design, coordinate, and conduct public education, promotion, and marketing by creation of educational materials (brochures, flyers, fact sheets).
Event Preparation and Participation
Assist with Lung Force Expo to serve lung disease patients and healthcare providers as required.
Identify new event or partnership opportunities.
Participate in and support in relevant conferences, workshops, and events.
Assist in preparation, execution, and tear down of all American Lung Association Colorado events.
Bachelor’s degree in health education, health promotion, public policy, nursing, or related field.
Minimum of two years’ experience working with community health education or outreach programs.
Experience working in non-profit setting on program development and management, education, and outreach.
Experience facilitating groups and/or conducting trainings a plus.
Team player and multi-tasking skills essential.
Knowledge of tobacco prevention and cessation is preferred.
Experience with program management and delivery, budget management, and generating reports, is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs.
A problem-solver with leadership experience
Flexibility in dealing with organizational growth and change.
Driver’s license and vehicle
