Consulting Business Development and Subject Matter Expert - IHS Technology Location - Shanghai, China Summary: The Subject Matter Expert functions as a core member of the commercial team, playing a dual role in both the Commercial/Business Development/Sales and Research/Analysis sides of our business.
General Responsibilities: Working with our sales team and clients directly, the subject matter expert role is to leverage our depth and breadth of research and capabilities into high value sales and business opportunities. While not a direct sales role, the successful candidate will have a high degree of sales acumen, the ability to interact with C-level executives, along with broad technical expertise in the technology value chain. This role requires a high degree of initiative to understand where the most value can be generated with customers and how to work most effectively with all the IHS Markit stakeholders.
Specific Job Duties:
Become initmately familiar with the entire IHS Markit Technology portfolio and capabilities
Partner with Account Managers and Sales reps in pre-sales, account planning and business development activities.
Engage with key strategic customers from pre-sale through the lifecycle of their engagement.
Identify potential strategic customers and work with sales to cultivate these companies into strategic relationships with IHS.
Identify how best to position our research themes with prospects and customers.
Develop, in conjunction with sales, strategic account plans for specific companies, based on existing and/or longer term potential large revenue opportunities.
Increase new account sales, sales opportunity conversion rates, strategic client engagements, and customer delight by making our sales and value propositions more relevant.
Provide 'content-based' training to the sales team, helping sales reps to match client key issues with IHS capabilities.
Deliver technology research to our customers through a range of platforms - our web based delivery platform, face-to-face meetings, custom engagements, webinars, site visits, trade shows, roundtables, phone calls, podcasts and other relevant communications media.

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, or industry-related fields required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technology consultant, researcher or research consumer focusing on the technology markets. Minimum of 10 years experience in commercial roles within the technology industry. Track record of extensive and successful interactions with customers in a range of situations.
