Microbial ID, Inc., a Veteran-Owned, small-business, commercial laboratory located in Newark, DE USA, is looking for a multi-purpose lab technician for a full-time position.
The primary responsibilities will be conducting PLFA-based soil microbial community analysis and assisting with FAME analysis of both microbial cultures and other organic substances. Duties will include soil sample preparation and PLFA analysis, reagent and media preparation, basic microbiology lab techniques and fatty acid analysis procedures. Additional duties will include varied laboratory analyses and documentation, including generating customer reports and spreadsheets, customer support and communication, maintaining laboratory supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and laboratory safety responsibilities.

Qualifying candidates should be highly motivated, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have a proven ability to work independently and follow directions. This position requires a high energy, highly-detailed, self-starting individual able to complete multiple tasks within a set time frame.
Requires a BS in Biology, Chemistry, or other Soil/ Life Science discipline, or equivalent experience. Some microbiology class experience is preferred but not required. Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques is a plus.
