Located on a gorgeous 86-acre campus, Berkeley Prep has excellent facilities. The school’s 29 buildings include classroom buildings, a performing arts center, two libraries, a student center, and enviable athletic facilities. Additions to campus facilities over the past seven years include: most recently, an Early Childhood Center, home to grades PK-1, which definitely met the project’s goal of creating an irresistible space for the school’s earliest learners; a 53,000-square-foot field house; the Berkeley Café, the school’s dining facility for faculty, staff and Middle and Upper Division students; and a 75,000-square-foot Arts & Sciences building, home to Middle and Upper Division Fine and Visual arts, as well as Upper Division math and science. Berkeley seeks an experienced and enthusiastic admissions professional and leader to serve as its next Director of Admissions beginning July 1, 2019. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, positive school community, a very strong senior administrative team, and to lead an experienced admissions office team of six. Berkeley’s admissions office has a strong reputation as being highly professional, warm, welcoming, and responsive— very positively introducing inquiring families to the school community and stewarding them with care throughout the admissions process.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the school’s admissions programs. Major responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing a department vision, outlining strategic enrollment initiatives and goals
Articulating Berkeley Prep’s mission and culture with passion and persuasion
Managing the day-to-day operations of an active, responsive admissions office
Serving as a member of the Administrative Team, working in concert with the Headmaster and other senior administrators
Supporting, managing and working in partnership with the admissions office staff, Division Directors, and others as appropriate on enrollment activities
Collaborating closely with the Director of Communications on marketing efforts
Increasing the school’s visibility and outreach to new neighborhoods and communities
Staying apprised of enrollment trends and demographic shifts, communicating and educating the school’s leadership on these as appropriate
Serving as an enthusiastic, active member of the school community.
The Director of Admission will work in partnership with a forward-thinking Headmaster, a committed Board of Trustees, veteran administrators, an engaged and talented admissions staff and a vibrant faculty. This person will provide leadership, strategic direction, support and hands-on efforts for the full range of admissions activities for this strong, well-resourced PK-12 school.
