The Springfield Headquarters is currently seeking applicants to fill an Associate Power Marketer position in the Engineering & Operations Division. An Associate Power Marketer is tasked with maximizing Associated’s generation and transmission resources by purchasing and selling electric energy to reliably serve the needs of Associated's member cooperatives. This entry-level position requires strong analytical skills to accurately forecast member load requirements, when to dispatch generation as well as perform financial analysis to optimize the energy market and AECI’s member’s assets. This position must be able to assess the dynamic wholesale energy market in order to determine the most economical generation mix. This position is a high profile job within AECI and all transactions are completely transparent throughout the company. A financial background is preferred.
This position requires a 100% rotating shift, including weekends, holidays and occasional overtime. This position requires a high level of commitment and attendance as the desk must be filled 365 days per year, 24 hours per day.
Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, finance or an equivalent field with technical and analytical emphasis, or equivalent experience. Although some technical experience is preferred, a candidate that is self-motivated, driven to learn and seeks to be highly successful at AECI will be considered in lieu of experience. Applicants must have the ability to repeatedly conduct appropriate and effective analysis in order to make quantitative and economic evaluations over a short period of time. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and be able to effectively manage multiple tasks with precision and speed. Applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to conduct transactions via telephone and instant messaging with industry counterparts. Very strong interpersonal skills are essential as this position requires the ability to work independently as well as within a team atmosphere. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.
