Westtown School, an independent, PK-12, day and boarding Quaker school in West Chester, Pennsylvania, seeks a groundskeeper to be responsible for the maintenance ofWesttown School’s grounds and recreational play areas while also assisting in the overall maintenance of the school’s property.

Groundskeepers Essential Functions:
·Mows grass and trimwith power mowers and other power tools.
·Prunes and mulches trees and shrubs.
·Operatesatractor, loader, and othergrounds vehicles.
·Weeds flower beds,around shrubs and trees,andas directed.
·Plants trees/shrubs and annuals as directed.
·Assists in maintaining athleticfields and recreational playareas for allusers including layout, lining, mowing, seeding,fertilizing, etc.
·Assists with removal and disposal of trash and debris.
·Removes snow and iceusingpower snowblowers, chemical icemelters, truck mounted plows, shovels, and/or icescraper andmustbeavailable for earlymorning and/orlate night hours when snow or ice is forecasted.
·Maintains streets in the immediatevicinityof thecampus.
·Has a thorough knowledge of trees and plants.
·Ability to design new plantings.
·Ability to diagnose and treat insect and disease problems on trees and ornamental plants.
·Provides support and manpower as directed to other Schooland Facilities Departments.
·Reportunsafeconditionsorsuspicious activityto the Assistant Director and Director of Facilities.
·Practice energyconservation atalltimes.
·Attendworkon time as scheduled andadhereto attendance policy.
·Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 100 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
·Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl for extended periods of time.
·Must be able to climb ladders.
·Must be able to push and/or pull heavy loads.
·High School Diploma or GED
·Minimum one year experience in the care and maintenance of similar facilities or equivalent education, training or experience.
·Ability to work within the overall organization of the Facilities department and work with skilled and unskilled personnel.
·Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
·Must have a valid Driver’s License.
