Petsadena Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian. Seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our close-knit medical team in our growing, progressive small animal practice in Pasadena, CA. We are looking for a doctor with a strong interest in providing client education to be able to offer our clients all options available for their pet’s care.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills, a commitment to providing the highest level of client service, the ability to lead by example, and the energy and enthusiasm to continue to grow the practice all while maintaining effective communication at all levels.
Our practice is paperless (Cornerstone) and equipped with Idexx digital radiography, Midmark digital dental radiography, an ultrasound, full in-house Idexx lab machines, and a therapeutic K-Laser. We provide a highly leveraged and well-trained medical team to assist our doctors in providing their patients high quality care.

REPORTS TO: Medical Director/ Owner
Petsadena's Associate veterinarian’s role is critical to the overall performance and success of the hospital. They deliver medical, surgical and dental care to the patients as well as communicate with the clients in order to have effective outcomes with patient care. As a leader and doctor, you must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills which include a high level of personal motivation, responsible nature, commitment to providing the highest level of client service, the ability to lead by example, the energy and enthusiasm to drive the practice forward, while maintaining effective communication at all levels, a vision to solve problems creatively, as well as the people skills to enable you to enhance teamwork.
Include, but are not limited to:
Medical and Surgical
Works with fellow associates and the management team to set hospital medical policies and procedures; performs all duties in accordance with them.
Performs physical examinations using preliminary data provided by the veterinary technicians; diagnose physical conditions and presents treatment options to the client.
Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures; provides emergency services in accordance with hospital policy.
Interprets the results of laboratory procedures and determines the appropriate protocol based on the results; prescribes medications.
Promptly and accurately updates client records.
Plans and carries out a program for personal medical continuing education.
Supervises team members when the need arises.
When time allows, participate in delivering in-house medical training to the hospital team.
Is accessible to the staff while maintaining doctor/staff professional relationship.
Works toward and attains hospital productivity standards.
With the management team, periodically reviews the key performance indicators and plans for changes as indicated.
Works with the management team on plans for developing and growing the business.
Is active in professional organizations.
Works with the management team to ensure the facility is medically efficient and visually appealing to clients and team.
Takes time to communicate effectively with clients, presenting them with treatment options and being sensitive to their emotional as well as financial status.
Sets a positive example for the team in dealing with clients; promotes the concept of the relationship centered environment.
Helps to develop new programs and processes that meet clients’ changing needs.
Assists with the marketing efforts and gives input when necessary
When opportunities are present and time allows, participates in community activities that focus on the veterinary profession.
Communicates effectively, motivates team, builds and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.
Takes an active role in hospital team meetings.
Promotes cooperative working environment among team members; understands the value of teamwork; shows enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the hospital function as a unit.
Promotes “CQI” Continuous Quality Improvement for the practice’s success and vision.
D.V.M. licensed in the State of California.
Experience as a D.V.M. in companion animal practice
Excellent communication skills with team members and clients
Ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a top quality hospital; ability to work as a team member as well as a doctor
Working knowledge of and interest in the business aspect of a veterinary practice
Willingness to perform management responsibilities
Willingness to work emergencies or extra hours when needed
Interest in contributing to marketing efforts for growth of the practice
Additional Salary Information: We offer a 4-day workweek with rotating Saturday shifts. No overnight or on-call hours. We offer a competitive salary (pro-sal opportunity based on experience) along with an excellent benefits package including healthcare, dental coverage, 401K retirement savings plan and CE allowance.
