The Compliance Manager will handle a diverse array of compliance and risk matters assisting the Senior Director, Compliance and Regulatory Relations (the "Senior Director") for SVB Financial Group's UK operations. This will include assisting with all UK regulations and relevant US regulations and providing advice and guidance to the business under the direction of the Senior Director. They will be expected to assist on projects where compliance input is required, help the business design and implement controls and provide advice and guidance on a diverse array of areas.
The individual should be able to handle a variety of compliance matters, including producing meaningful management information and analysis, and work independently as well as in partnership with the rest of the team and the business as a whole. It is important that the candidate is able to think and act in an innovative way to work with the business to create, refine and implement solutions to complex problems in a way which suits the organizational practices, is client centric but still meets regulatory expectations.
Primary duties in this context will therefore include the following:
Creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, processes and similar documents to support our regulatory compliance
Providing thoughtful, relevant and tailored advice and guidance to the business on a variety of issues
Analysing and presenting information on complex regulatory requirements with recommendations which are clearly thought out and appropriate based on the scale and risk to our business
Producing meaningful management information on our regulatory compliance to the UK branch's governing committees
Keeping up to date with regulatory publications and consultations to analyse changes and provide support thereafter to business unit changes to implement these changes in a timely manner
Providing support with regulatory relations including producing or overseeing the production of regulatory filings and information
Acting as a representative for compliance on UK and enterprise wide projects working in close partnership with cross-functional teams and the Change the Bank function.
They need to stay abreast of industry developments and attend industry events as a representative of the company and will be expected to understand and explain to the broader business the key outcomes from industry changes and developments in a concise, accurate and timely manner.
They should also be able to see clearly the key issues and objectives in complex issues and understand what action should be taken to achieve that objective. They need to be able to stand their ground where appropriate on contentious issues but do this in a way which ensures productive conflict and ensures that the interest of SVB remains paramount.
The candidate must have a proven track record in meeting deadlines and expectations on deliverables in a high energy, hard working environment.
Experience: Relevant regulatory experience, ideally from a banking environment, regulatory body or regulatory audit. Experience with Basel III, capital and liquidity from a compliance perspective would be a strong advantage. Experience in a mid-market commercial banking environment would also be highly beneficial.
