We are seeking to recruit at the earliest opportunity a Research Lead on a permanent, full-time basis, in St. Louis, MO, USA. The positions primary area of expertise is in Genome Editing.
To be successful in this role, a candidate should possess:
Ability to develop and lead research programs on genome editing in crop plants to support gene discovery and trait development programs in KWS crops.
Ability to collect and integrate a broad range of potential strategies into actionable concepts.
Demonstrated success in working across different functions to implement a research program with successful outcomes.
High level of knowledge and demonstrated internationally-recognized expertise in either genome editing or chromosome biology.
Solid understanding of pathways relevant to DNA repair, replication and recombination.
Strong leadership skills, demonstrated by several years of experience leading multiple direct reports, in addition to leading peer-based project teams that produced successful outcomes.
Extensive network within the areas of DNA and/or chromosome biology.
Experience in IP generation.
Demonstrated goal-oriented leadership qualities to innovate and execute scientific or technological tasks with precision and sharp attention to detail.
Authorization to work in US.
PhD or equivalent qualification in bio-science or one of the STEM disciplines.
2+ years of relevant work experience in academia or industry.
Deep scientific or technological understanding for qualified guiding, challenging and decision making.
Competence and motivation for pursuing changing tasks within an area of expertise.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, both scientific and non-scientific, for collaborative success.
Demonstrated ability to recognize scientific or technological problems and directly contribute to problem solving and innovation to overcome obstacles.
Analytical skills, integration of scientific and non- scientific aspects into optimized/risk balanced work packages.
Continuous self-motivated professional development.
Ability to communicate and write clearly and accurately to technicians, scientific and nonscientific peers and managers in English.
