The Sterile Processing (SPD) Technician reports to and under the SPD Supervisor, the SPD tech performs technical functions including processing of equipment or materials (including decontamination, preparation and sterilization).

Cleaning sterile processing area -- before work begins for the day.
Prepares trays, packs, linen, instruments and other special items for sterilization.
Maintains accurate sterilization and biological indicators.
Retrieves and reports instruments that have failed biological tests and reports to leader.
Cleans sterilizers and washers as per policy.
Check sets and identifies any instruments needing replacement or repair.
Assembly of instruments according to set.
Sterilizes linen, folds properly, wrapped, and inspected for lint or damage.
Check for breaks in sterility, tears, holes moisture in wrapped trays.
Removal of instrument trays for steam sterilizers and sterrad.
Proper handling and storage of these supplies.
Remove unnecessary equipment/supplies, damp, dust sterilizers, all reachable flat surfaces; furniture, work tables, shelving, countertops, sinks.
Sterile processing experience preferred.
Certification as Sterile processing technician preferred.
