UW RADIOLOGY ABDOMINAL IMAGING NOW ACCEPTING FELLOWS FOR 2020-2021 AND BEYOND
The University of Washington in Seattle, Washington is recruiting for its ACGME-accredited Body Imaging fellowship program in advanced imaging modalities like MRI, US, and CT along with state-of-the-art procedural techniques. We offer education, clinical experience, and research opportunities.
The Abdominal (Body) Imaging Section consists of 18 faculty members and 9 fellows. We are a large, diverse section with an extensive track record of academic success including over 1500 scientific publications, 150 book chapters, and 2,000 scholarly presentations along with multiple research grants either as principal investigators or co-investigators.
The primary mission of our fellowship is to provide superior clinical training in all modalities in body imaging. This is accomplished by the dedication of faculty members who are deeply committed to resident and fellow education. We cover the full scope of academic Body Imaging and Intervention, including the interpretation of CT, MRI, US, as well as minimally invasive procedures utilizing US and CT guidance (biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, aspirations, etc.) and there is a volume of cases with diverse pathology.
Our fellows have the opportunity to participate in advanced diagnostic imaging with state-of- art equipment including liver imaging, ultrasound with microbubble contrast, high risk obstetric imaging, prostate MR imaging, dual-energy CT imaging and CT with low dose technique and to work side-by-side with nationally and internationally-accredited academic radiologists and interact with world-renowned clinicians. Our curriculum includes acadamic time commensurate with funding, didactic lectures, mentored research programs, regular interesting cases, Journal Club, and QA conferences. Our fellows gain experience in various aspects of body imaging by working at top-rated facilities, including the University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (Oncology), Harborview Medical Center (Trauma), and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
The UW School of Medicine is a top ten program, with the UWMC ranked as #1 in the state of Washington. Our Radiology Department has 130 clinical and research faculty and over 100 trainees. Our faculty are fellowship-trained and have experience in all modalities, but are experts in their chosen clinical and research areas. Clinical Ultrasound is an active service that enjoys close relationships with all departments in the hospital, including high-risk obstetrical and transplantation patients. State of the art wide-detector and dual energy CT and multiple new 1.5T plus 3T MR perform all aspects of abdominal and thoracic imaging. Body interventions enjoys dedicated facilities and staff – its own multi-slice CT, two dedicated ultrasound rooms, dedicated physician assistants, nursing, scheduling, and support staff. Seattle is consistently ranked among the top three urban areas for quality of life, with superb recreation and outdoor activities nearby and a very temperate climate. It is very family-friendly and accommodating to extensive sports and outdoors activities with excellent schools available.
