This person will work independently and will be responsible for specific project work. Advanced expertise in the functional use of Excel, Word and database software packages are required, as is the ability to learn new systems and programs. The Donor Relations & Grant Writer will have access to and use of confidential information pertaining to donors and must have a good sense of diplomacy. This person must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages a portfolio of current and potential major gift donors to increase their individual giving levels
Coordinates donor communications and CRM software using Raisers Edge
Writes grants and coordinates compliance
Works collaboratively with Chief Development Officer and finance department regularly
Keeps detailed and timely records of communication and interactions with donors.
Executes action items that result from donor contact.
Corresponds appropriately with major donors to acknowledge donations.
Manages financial and other resources effectively.
Coordinates and produces a range of financial, budget, and ad hoc reports, proposals, and analyses for management.
Reflects Humane Indiana’s commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
Processes daily donations
Prepares weekly donor reports
Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Grant writing and grant compliance
CRM database experience (Raisers Edge preferred)
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
Good steward of Humane Indiana’s human, financial and capital resources.
Any other tasks or duties as assigned.
Provides day-to-day leadership in implementing annual giving campaigns.
Performs comprehensive analysis related to all aspects of the annual fund program.
Maintains the donor database and collaborates with staff to ensure confidential and accurate updates.
Adheres to all Humane Indiana policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Expectations:
Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals within and outside of Humane Indiana.
Broad base of knowledge and skills related to donor cultivation and CRM database.
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills required.
Deadline and detail oriented.
Must possess a high level of energy and a can-do-attitude.
Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to work competently and efficiently in a multi-task environment.
Requires a strong knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Must have the ability to accurately proofread and edit reports and correspondence.
Must write well.
Advanced expertise required in Excel, Word, and comfort with donor database management systems is desired.

Experience and Education:
College degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 5 years of development experience in a related environment.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing
