Responsible for the management, documentation, and assurance of the quality of product produced by manufacturing as well as total corporate oversight of quality matters for materials and parts received from suppliers. This position is responsible for all facets of Quality operations to ensure that the above activities are in compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines. This position performs a wide variety of secondary duties, some of a confidential nature.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain an awareness of NIOSH, MSHA, MIL, DOD, DEF STAN, ISO, CE, UL, domestic and foreign industry standards, and any other requirements or guidelines.
Monitor and audit operations to assure that its quality systems are in compliance with company policies and procedures, NIOSH regulations, and applicable domestic and foreign standards.
Continuously improve the quality system and take prompt corrective action where required.
Develop and maintain vendor management program including completing vendor audits.
Participate in the design of new products and product upgrades to assure that the customer expectations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements are fully incorporated in product design specifications and project plans.
Manage the internal quality audit program.
Develop and implement quality plans that ensure that design goals are achieved through controlled development, verification, validation, review, system tests, beta testing, and the use of all appropriate quality tools.
Prepare and file submissions for testing, approval and documentation with NIOSH and any other required testing laboratories.
Maintain the product complaint and reporting system.
File reports with NIOSH and any other appropriate domestic or foreign agency as required by regulations and company policy.
Manage and supervise Quality Control Technicians/Inspectors. This includes training, development, disciplinary action, hiring, assigning work, and all other supervisory responsibilities.
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
BS in Science, Engineering or Quality.
Minimum of 5 years in a quality management role in manufacturing.
Experience with ISO or other quality management systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and excellent computer skills.
