The Springfield Headquarters is seeking experienced applicants for an Energy Risk Management Specialist position in the Risk Management Division. Reporting directly to the Senior VP & Chief Risk Officer, the Energy Risk Management Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to report and measure portfolio risk in support of Power Marketing activities. Specifically, the role is to verify all transactions executed by Power Marketing are captured accurately into the appropriate risk system as well as provide a shadow settlement of these transactions to aid Accounting & Finance. This includes the weekly settlement of the RTO invoices and the monthly Natural Gas settlements. This position will play a significant role in the development, design and scope of the Energy Compliance Program and should be able to proficiently summarize, communicate and educate on Energy Risk fundamentals, including mark-to-market, stochastic modeling and various value-at-risk calculations.
The Energy Risk Management Specialist will also be responsible for reporting daily credit exposure reports, monitoring all risks with third parties, preparing reports for monthly risk management meetings where monthly risk reports are explained and trader violations are reported. This role will maintain any forward energy curves that are utilized to mark-to-market all energy transactions and maintain the Trading Authority Matrix, Risk Policy and Transaction Execution Process and updates as necessary. This position also supports the administration and negotiation of energy contracts. As a key leader and member of the Energy Risk Division, this position plays a major support role to the Power Marketing Department and Accounting & Finance Department
Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering or demonstrate equivalent experience (all experience levels will be considered). Proficiency and work experience with statistics and risk evaluation is a must. Successful candidates will have superior knowledge of MTM/price curve risk management, credit, EEI/SDA contracts, governance risk policy, RTO/bilateral settlements and portfolio modeling. Experience with the cooperative business model or electric utilities is a plus. Proficiency with MS Office products, with an emphasis on MS Excel is required.
