The APAC Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will be providing independent oversight and control over compliance and regulatory risks relating to the APAC division. CCO is granted the necessary independence, authority and resources to executive its duties without undue influence or obstacles, and the appropriate access to management to raise issues, as needed. CCO's mandate is to monitor APAC's business activities on all levels, based on regular and ad-hoc Compliance risk assessments, so to minimize potential risks to Credit Suisse's reputation and the violation of laws or regulations. APAC CCO has delegated authority from the Group CCO to independently execute its mandate, as a 2nd line of defense 'control' function. As a direct report of the APAC CCO, and member of the Compliance Management Committee, the APAC Head of Pune and Powai Coverage is responsible for management and handles both local Coverage Compliance teams and all CCO Outsourced functions within Pune and Powai locations.
The role has overall responsibility for coordinating the identification and management of the organization's Compliance risk and for supervising the work and activity of the function across Powai, Pune and across other Credit Suisse India locations.
You Offer Key Responsibilities include
You will support senior manager in setting the right tone from the top on matters and helping them provide the necessary leadership on Compliance risk.
You will provide leadership to the local compliance team by performing tasks including timely resource planning, giving the necessary mentorship to the teams especially on critical/sensitive matters, continuous supervision, preparedness to address employee turnover, identify development opportunities, ensure team work in supporting each other and knowledge sharing within the country team and regional team, etc.
In addition, you should put in place measures and build the right environment for staff within the function to develop their skills and capabilities, particularly so that they are up to date with developments in Compliance laws, rules and standards.
You will build and maintain effective regulatory relationships with the business's regulators. You will handle regulatory inspections/investigations/audits.
Furthermore, you will ensure the effective assessment and produce a risk-based Compliance plan that is approved by senior management.
You should produce risk-based Market Intelligence for senior management that aids effective decision-making on the matters.
You will assist senior management in educating staff on the issues and ensure the function acts as an effective contact point within the bank for Compliance queries.
Ensure sufficient and representative Compliance monitoring and testing reporting the results to senior management so as to ensure senior management's ongoing understanding of Compliance risk present.
Act as a champion on Compliance matters publicly setting standards and providing a challenge where the required standards are not achieved.
Ensure the independence of the task.
Conduct regular reviews of the effectiveness and efficiency of the functions making recommendations for improvements
Handle (in conjunction with pertinent regional and global CCO and other business partners, including GC and other control functions) the application of significant regulations and Bank policies applicable to the Bank's businesses, the Country CEO and local management
You will maintain good relationship with peer groups and industry association and be aligned/ aware of peer practices and initiatives by industry association/groups.
Participate in the various decision-making forums of the bank to offer compliance inputs and reporting issues requiring attention to safeguard the interest and reputation of the business.
Additionally, leading and handling the constituent teams within the Pune CCO teams supporting global locations such as Singapore, HK, London and NY.

Employee Compliance (Personal Account Trading) - supporting PA Reconciliations, Outside business Interests & PA Surveillance:
Regulatory Shareholder Reporting - supporting preparation of regulatory reports & performing User Acceptance testing:
Policy & Training - supporting APAC in Policy & training processes.
Dodd Frank & Volcker Rule - supporting EMEA & Americas in preparation of reports & Compliance Planning.
Qualifications You offer excellent track record of delivery and demonstrate the following attributes:
Post-graduate degree, with strong compliance background and knowledge of compliance structures, systems and strategy in APAC Investment Banking and/or Wealth Management markets.
Senior management experience, with a consistent track record in leading high level compliance professionals in a multi-jurisdictional environment. You will have people management experience and confirmed leadership skill, energy, passion and drive.
A comprehensive understanding of the operational, regulatory and reputational compliance risks.
Excellent analytical ability; you will think strategically and be a leader with vision in the further development of the team.
Experience of driving operational and organization efficiencies; prior experience as a Business Manager or COO is likely to be a plus.
