The Team: This role has 6 direct reports based in New York and London and is a key focal point for Platts and Market Intelligence divisions in respect to monthly and quarterly (internal & external) reporting.
The Impact: This role will ensure that financial performance at the Division level is reported accurately and timely to Division OpCo members and Corporate Finance with accompanying variance commentary and will play a key part in the review and validation of externally reported financial results for MI & Platts.
What's in it for you: This role is uniquely positioned to serve 2 of the SPGI Divisions (Market Intelligence and Platts) working with the Finance teams in those Divisions as well as the Corporate Controllers and FP&A Finance teams. Therefore, this role is a great opportunity to understand both the MI and Platts businesses and gain increased exposure to Division OpCo members via the reporting of the Division level results. Opportunities also exist to drive change in global Finance operations and fully leverage future state operating model.
Responsibilities: This role provides monthly reporting and analysis on financial performance across Revenue, Expense, EBITA and Balance Sheet to Division OpCo, Business Leads as well as Corporate Finance. The Director will lead the management of the monthly accounting close process for Market Intelligence & Platts working with those Division Finance teams to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial results. Also, the preparation of monthly reporting for review by Senior Finance and OpCo/Business Leadership to include various views (As Reported, Organic) to meet business needs and drive decision making.
The role will lead the preparation of presentations including Quarterly Financial Review, Quarterly Business Review and financial content of Board of Director meetings and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the externally reported financial information for the Market Intelligence & Platts divisions.
The role will manage the monthly variance analysis and work with the Division Finance teams to complete variance explanations on actual and historical results compared to budget, estimate and prior year for onward reporting to S&P Global Corporate Accounting group and Finance leadership to include both P&L and Balance Sheet variance. In addition, the role will oversee responding to both internal and external audit queries, ensuring full compliance internal controls (SOX) providing evidence as required as well as the ongoing maintenance of a strong control environment.
There is project work to be managed with particular emphasis around process improvement, reporting quality/relevance, automation, adopting LEAN principles, employing best practices including use of technology, and ensuring Finance tasks are correctly assigned working with other Finance leads accordingly to maximize the SPGI Finance organization.
What We're Looking For: Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or fully qualified accountant with 2-4 years' proven accounting and financial analysis experience of working in a Global Finance organization operating within a matrix business structure.
Experience with ERP (Oracle Financials), Tableau and Cognos TM1 (or similar) Strong skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups) and PowerPoint (ThinkCell an advantage).
Solid analytical skills and excellent attention to detail is imperative.
