Ensure that LPEA is a member-focused and community-minded organization that offers its members services and programs that provide value and improve their communities by creating and implementing a communication, member service, and marketing strategic plan that consistently articulates LPEA’s vision and mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as lead brand advocate.
Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance LPEA’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and services; and increase participation in those programs and services.
Create and lead the implementation and execution of innovative strategies to deliver a consistent and trusted service experience for LPEA members.
Oversee development of all print communications such as marketing collateral and the annual report and electronic communications including LPEA’s website and social media.
Cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with LPEA’s members, partners and media.
Monitor and report to CEO on any code and/or policy proposals and changes at the various jurisdictions (town, city, county).
Support senior staff and their departments as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. Coordinate communication efforts among the departments to create a unified approach.
Manage an effective and innovative Key Accounts program to develop stronger relationships with our largest customers and improved communications that will drive member success.
Organize and oversee LPEA’s Member lunches, various member meetings, the Annual Meeting of Members, including nomination and election of Director, and other events assigned.
Coordinate Community Organization engagement
Liaison with Operation Round-Up
Manage Unclaimed Capital Credit Educational Funding Requests as required
Liaison with various Community Economic Development groups
Coordinate LPEA’s various scholarship programs
Coordinate community donations and sponsorships
Administers, develops and implements member outreach and educational programs
Act as LPEA’s Public Information Officer and Company Spokesperson as necessary.
Facilitate and enhance internal communication within the cooperative.
Demonstrate and foster a sense of accountability, continuous improvement, leadership and entrepreneurial commitment to achieving goals.
Participates as a member of LPEA’s Senior Leadership Team, works with the CEO and Board of Directors and shares the responsibility for developing and implementing LPEA’s vision, mission, core values, strategic planning, budget, organization planning and policies.
Assist the CEO in legislative engagement
Assist CEO in developing presentations and testimony for state and federal legislators
Attend legislative meetings at the State Capitol and Washington, D.C.
Follow and report on legislative hearings pertaining to La Plata Electric Association
Abilities and Skills
Must have clear and concise written and verbal communication skills; Be a creative and innovative team member and leader with technical and strategic skills and be able to identify new technologies and trends in the fields of communications, marketing and member/public relations; Have effective public speaking skills; Be detail oriented with strong organization and analytical skills; Have the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy; Be proficient in MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook and managing online content, digital marketing and social media; Have understanding of mobile technology. General knowledge of graphic design and website layout beneficial.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, communications, public relations or business and seven years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, and public relations required. Previous experience in the electric utility/energy industry is preferred.
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by LPEA may be substituted for the requirements above.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
