The Operational Excellence (OPEX) Engineer IV is responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement and leading process improvement projects across the site. This is a highly visible and interactive position that is expected to lead change in challenging environments and overcome status quo. Using proven methodologies (such as Lean, Six Sigma, etc.), data analysis, and project management, this person is to solicit ideas, determine true requirements, reduce waste, eliminate variability, and improve existing and new processes. This role must act as a change agent to stimulate management thinking about process improvements; develop and champion new process initiatives; demonstrate the successful application of new tools and create innovative strategies.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
Successfully lead cross-functional teams in continuous improvement project / kaizen event execution including aligning with stakeholders, defining project scope / objectives, tracking deliverables, resolving key issues and achieving desired outcomes
Implements and supports OPEX standards across the entire site including Tiered Accountability, 5S, Leader Standard Work, etc.
Provide coaching to process owners to apply Lean, Six Sigma, and effective business change techniques towards the resolution of operational opportunities
Provides statistical / analytical support for project completion
Partners with Training group to provide OPEX training to the site including instructor led classes, updating of training materials, and facilitating the completion of course requirements
The following listed requirements need to be met at a minimum level to be considered for the job:
Minimum 7-10 years of direct experience with continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) methodologies including: DMAIC projects, visual management, value stream mapping, 5S, etc.
Training and/or certification in Lean and/or Six Sigma from a reputable source.
Experience in managing improvement projects in a regulated manufacturing environment
Ability to train / coach all levels in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies
Strong statistical / analytical skills including knowledge of MiniTab (or similar program) driving root cause problem solving
Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-functional teams to a desired outcome
Ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities by organizing workload efficiently
Excellent communication, engagement, and diplomacy skills; establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project)
A positive and professional attitude as well as a strong work ethic

Black Belt Six Sigma certification preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, business, or related field.
