This position will provide legal support in a wide range of areas, including administrative, business, corporate, employment, and real estate law. Draft applications and other filings to, and attend hearings before, regulatory bodies. Negotiate, draft, and review contracts for various departments throughout the organization. Draft and analyze legislation. Exceptional organizational and legal writing and research skills. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, meet deadlines and deliver high quality work product with minimal oversight by supervisor. Ability to make solid business and legal judgments and apply strategic thinking. Ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, logically and succinctly (both verbally and in writing) for a variety of audiences.
Law degree, membership in the Kentucky State Bar Association and license to practice law in Kentucky (license to practice law and in good standing in another state will suffice pending admission to Kentucky bar). Must have the ability to read and understand complex legal documents. Knowledge of basic contract, commercial, and business law principals required, with a preference for individuals with regulatory and energy knowledge and experience. Experience with real estate and employment law a plus. Minimum of 2 years of legal experience required.
