The Team: The role will work in conjunction with other areas of Global Gas & Power Analytics covering North America, Europe, as well as emerging markets. More broadly, a working relationship will also be required with Oil, NGL, and Petrochemical analytics.
Contribute to content generation process
Review and critique content, modeling outputs, and forecasts
Ensure content alignment with global gas, power, oil, NGLs, and coal
Review, proof and edit report content
Interface with Data and Modeling team
Analytics and News - support interactions in areas of content overlap
Contribute to ad-hoc projects,
Client discussions, site visits, calls
What's in it for you: This integral role offers a challenging environment as a senior analyst, who is expected to work well in collaboration with senior leaders as well as showing strong individual leadership and assuming considerable responsibility for the delivery of essential analytics in the form of market fundamentals, data, and forecasting.
Responsibilities: The Senior Analyst - Global Gas will help develop and drive the coverage across our existing analytics services of the markets, particularly in the context of the increasing importance of North American regional balances and prices, as well as the increasing connection to the global gas markets and prices. Beyond supporting existing North American gas products, the analyst will also assist the Head of Global Gas Planning in broadening coverage of global gas supply and LNG considerations, reflecting the widening connection among gas and power markets in Europe, Asia, the Mideast, and Africa. Special focus would be placed on the presentation of quarterly 5-year and long-term outlooks.
This analyst will be responsible for analyzing all aspects of global gas markets across the entire value chain of supply, demand, inventory and price at a regional level. The primary goal of the position will be to support development as well as quality improvements and enhancements of content. The position also involves engagements and interactions with other internal stakeholders. Extensive writing and presentation skills are required at the company and conference level as a primary representative of Platts Analytics.
What We're Looking For:
Advanced degrees in economics or business preferred, together with at least three years of experience in gas and power markets. Some combination of strengths is analytics, modeling, forecasting trading, reporting, writing, and presenting.
Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally
Strong numeracy skills including ability to conceptualize proportional relationships and to understand the basic principles of algebra and statistics as well as a strong ability to apply basic math functions in Excel. Experience in quantitative analysis an advantage
Strong critical thinking skills and expert at problem/conflict resolution
Established industry connections a plus
