Our Central Chief Operating Officer function is a global team with representatives in all key hubs. The team works with businesses and support areas to ensure that they operate efficiently and effectively to meet the Group's strategic objectives. The work includes cross-business problem solving for operational, commercial and risk management problems and acts as the unit that enables front-to-back cross-divisional management. Due to increasing regulatory and governance requirements on our businesses an opportunity exists for an experienced change specialist with strong problem solving and leadership skills to join our team.
As a driven, high-energy, results-oriented senior member of the team, you'll be involved in initiatives that impact all our businesses, products and markets globally. You'll work on initiatives including enhancing our risk management frameworks, improving governance, systems and processes, co-ordinating cross-business change, new product approvals, senior management reporting and also performing qualitative and quantitative analysis where required. You will also be responsible for certain ongoing activities to ensure the Group continues to meet its strategic objectives. Broadly, but not limited to, these will see you:
take ownership of various operational improvement initiatives including effective transition of those to 'business as usual' teams.
be responsible for regulatory, governance/oversight responsibilities:
Steering Committees and Working Groups;
co-ordination of materials for regulatory visits, Board, Executive Committee meetings etc;
Management Reporting arising from certain Group-wide policies;
lead some significant regulatory projects;
assist with team planning, recruitment and development.
This highly-visible position requires a 'hands-on' approach and will see you act as a pivotal escalation point for both business and support areas on regulatory and governance matters offering unique access to a number of senior executives. You'll work directly with divisional business management / risk teams, our trading desks, as well as stakeholders in support areas to understand, define and solve issues, analyse business processes and propose improvements. Across these initiatives, you be expected to design detailed plans and manage implementation. You will also prepare status updates and presentations to management as required.
With a relevant business degree and 8-15 years of experience in financial services in business management, operations, risk or projects/change roles, you'll also need to have gained an understanding of the regulatory environment of a global markets business. As expected, you will need to quickly learn our business, systems and processes. We're seeking a high level of PC literacy, organisational, report writing and presentation skills, an analytical mindset, as well as an understanding of the importance of delivering well planned, detailed and accurate work in a timely manner. Importantly, you'll need to be able to manage multiple tasks and projects, often with competing priorities. Being fully accountable for your work and bringing a commercial work approach is required. We're often faced with new or complex issues so problem solving to meet commercial and business outcomes is seen as essential. Your strong verbal and written communication skills and natural talent to influence stakeholders to ensure commercial and business outcomes are reached will be of importance. An understanding of derivative products is not necessary, although will be highly-regarded.
