Responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and training programs and procedures in compliance with Cooperative Energy and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and/or provides training programs related to safety, accident prevention, first aid and equipment operations in a timely, accurate and effective delivery method to meet objectives.
Investigates accidents, near misses, and safety concerns; completes required reporting, recommends preventative measures.
Supports and assists personnel and contractors with respect to OSHA compliance.
Coordinates Emergency Response operations including medical, fire and evacuation/rescue, designating responders, training and scheduling drills.
Conducts indoctrination of all new employees in safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Conducts safety inspections of facilities, work sites, equipment, and work activities and recommends corrective actions or measures.
Provides support in the development and administration of Cooperative Energy's safety policies and programs.
Investigates and establishes standards for personal protective equipment.
Coordinates Hearing Conservation, Confined Space Entry, Respiratory Protection programs, and others.
Advises contractors of Cooperative Energy's safety requirements.
Assists in developing and/or conducting training and testing programs that satisfy Cooperative Energy promotional needs.
Bachelor's Degree Required
3 years Industrial Safety Experience Required
Certification & Licensures:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred
Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Preferred
Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) Preferred
OSHA 30 Hour Course Preferred
Valid Mississippi Driver's License Required
Successfully pass a security sensitive background screening. Required

Extensive knowledge of applicable policies and local, state and federal laws and regulations impacting areas of responsibility.
Demonstrated competency in the technical and training skills required to fulfill the position's responsibilities.
Ability to learn, interpret, comprehend and effectively apply statutes, rules and regulations.
Ability to focus on details and understand the overall impact of events and decisions.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively with individuals at varying levels within Cooperative Energy as well as outside contacts in a professional manner.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven written communication skills.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, plan, and stay on schedule to meet deadlines.
Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
