Gannett Fleming is currently seeking a Project Manager Transit & Rail Systems to join our world class Transit & Rail Systems Group in one of our West Coast offices.
The Project Manager Transit & Rail Systems will plan organize, and supervise design engineering activities for a section of a major engineering discipline (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or structural), or may perform in the capacity of technical specialist, researcher, or principal investigator for large or complex projects requiring technical expertise of a high order. The incumbent must be capable of demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment, and must also be knowledgeable of state-of-the-art engineering technologies which are applicable to the Transportation industry.

We provide planning, engineering, program delivery, testing, and commissioning services to the transit and freight rail industries and offer extensive experience in rail and bus systems, transit facilities, and civil and structural infrastructure. We deliver system expansions and upgrades for bus, commuter railroads, freight railroads, and light and heavy rail transit systems.
This position is preferably based in our Los Angeles, CA but also can also be based out of our San Francisco, CA., San Marcos, CA. or our Seattle, WA. offices.
Duties and key responsibilities ;
Manages and coordinates all project activities, including staffing, financial, scheduling, client interfaces, contract compliance, and work production
Supervises a small group of engineers from one or more disciplines. This may be either a group of engineers assigned to a project or may be considered a section within a larger work unit
The incumbent is also responsible for making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have important impact on total design engineering
Minimum Qualifications ;
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Professional Engineer (PE) License required
10 years post degree/experience, technical and project management experience would be an advantage.
Commuter Rail, heavy rail, metro, urban and subway mass rail transit experience required
Proven ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team and across different business units
Experience in a project environment with good customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Extracting technical and functional requirements from tender documents and create System, Subsystem, Interface requirements
Understanding and experience in Safety Management System and System Safety Certification.
Understanding and experience in System Integration
Understanding and experience in Requirement management and tractability.
Should have experience with database requirement management tools such as DOORS and ReqPro (requirement traceability measurement)
Understanding and Ability to develop System Integration Plan, System Validation and Verification Plan, System Safety Plan, System Safety Certification Plan, System Engineering Development Plan
