The Town School, a Nursery - 8th grade coeducational school in New York City, seeks a new Director of Annual Giving & Alumni/ae Affairs. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Advancement and working collaboratively with the entire advancement staff, the director’s primary responsibility is to grow support for Town’s $1.2MM Annual Fund and the school’s forthcoming comprehensive campaign. The director will be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of all Annual Giving and Alumni/ae programs.
Plan, implement, and manage all aspects of an inspiring and compelling Annual Giving program including publications, appeals, donor recognition and stewardship.
Strategize with the Director of Institutional Advancement to integrate a successful Annual Giving program within the context of a capital campaign.
Recruit, train, lead, engage, and retain the Annual Giving cabinet and volunteer solicitors for peer to peer outreach. Communicate updates and next steps.
Research potential donors and collaborate on solicitation strategies.
Lead all AG mailings, analysis, donor maintenance. Monitor gift processing and prepare reports.
Assist in all fundraising activities and major campaigns, including planning, researching donors, tracking campaign progress, recognition, and stewardship.
Strategize with Director of Institutional Advancement on inclusion strategies with the goal of maximizing parent connections to the school, participation in annual giving and advancement programs.
Identify, cultivate and strengthen relationships with potential donors.
Alumni/ae and Alumni/ae Parent Affairs
Research and profile the background of all alumni/ae and former faculty.
Expand and replenish alum class agents and past parents, and function as a liaison between them and all activities at school.
Plan, implement and attend receptions, reunions and other special events on campus or outside the school.
Network with ongoing schools and alumni/ae Town's preparation for high school for use in alumni/ae and all school publications.
Oversee archives and ensure the collection and preservation of photos and other important documents.
Gather alumni/ae notes and research, write and edit alumni/ae profiles for the annual Currents
Oversee the maintenance of alumni/ae information in database.
Work with the Director of Communications to formulate and implement a strategy to enhance alumni/ae connection to, and support of, Town. Post periodic social media updates.
Lead the alumni board and young alumni/ae board and support their fundraising and event initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Institutional Advancement and Head of School.
Attend NYC Annual Giving Directors’ meetings, and Alumni/ae Directors’ meetings throughout the school year.
Participate in ongoing professional development.
Connect all constituencies to the mission and educational vision of the school through communications, reunions, celebrations and other special events.

A minimum of five years of progressive experience in annual giving, preferably in an academic setting.

Comfort with a range of technology, including Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge (NXT).
